Description: Still working on inside renders had to cut down on the size since the problems I have had with Bryce6 freezing up.I have 9 radials in this scene.My shadows are set to 75.Hopefully I am getting closer to a real feel.any comments or help will be appreciated.

Bullit, this is much improved over the other interiors. You are definetly getting a more realistic feel, Bravo.

When you use radials as indirect light, you need to apply a special trick Horo discovered. He;s modest but the theory is brilliant and very useful and even essential to your current purpose. In the light lab you must make certain that the light color is not Uniform, select Gradient instead. Selec Edit and observe that one end of the slider will be black and the other white. Drag the cursors in reverse so that the gradient progresses in the opposite direction. Why?

If you notice, there are some places where I can see a concentration of light striking the roof even though there are no visible lights in that area. These are probably your radials drawing attention to themselves. This is becasue the uniform color setting in the light lab concentrates the energy at the center, as is physically accurate when simulating a bright direct lightsource. By using Horos reversed gradient theory, the light falloff is reversed, such that ther is no fall of and therfore no intensification near the light location, creating a much more convincing indrect light simulation. So the hotspots on the roof should not be there.

I know you must feel good about the progress you are making. And best of all, the render time was probably not too bad.

On the issue of shadow intensity. Seems to me that the 75% setting is working fine for you here. Ideally, you would use more lights, ech much dimmer, covering all areas of all models in a manner that allowing light to bleed through surfaces would not be necessary. But using so few lights and becasue there is no bright sunlight contaminating the indoor illumination, it's all good.

Excellent sense of dimension, as usual. Textures are very nice as is the artwork on the wall.

Yes, you should feel very good about this.

As I look more at this image a couple of questions do arise. In terms of lighting it is a game of "cause and effect." You are actiually taking on the task of representing the 4th dimension of the passage of time, as light enters from a bright source and then dims as it bounces around a room. Lighting tells the story of the scene, it does not simply make objects visible. Direct lights are the bright "causes" and the indirect lights are the "effects" of that bright light as it bounces off the walls and surfaces of a scenario. So my question to you is, where exactly are your direct lightsources placed? and how bright are they in comparison with your indirect light sources? There is a ceiling lamp at room center, is that where the primary direct light is coming from? because if so, you need to place your brighteset radial there and the material needs to look like it is radiating light, perhaps some ambient glow is correct to use there on the lamp object since you are creating something thermal and not of room temperature. However, if the lamo has a glass ring as I see it does, then this glass shouldlight up on it's own as soon as you place a bright radial in there. If there are going to be a hotspot anywhere on the roof, it should be close to or just above the ceiling light because the light that's placed there should be much brighter than the indirect lights around the room. Another way to think of it,..You used 9 radials, but how many of those are your bright direct lights and how many are your dim inversed gradient indirect lights? So far I only see 1 direct lightsource in the scene, a ceiling lamp, so i radial for that and the other 8 should be used for indirect light. The combined brightness of alll 8 of them should produce less energy than the energy output of the single direct radial.

Still the first imopression is very good. The basic idea is right, which is that you have covered your butt on all sides with at least a little bit of light from a radial or two, so you don't need ambient glow at all for anything.

Seems now you might just need to play around with how to draw a bigger difference between your direct illumination and indirect illumination.

Hope I am not overwhelming you with notes.

As overall texture color choices - this scene is very appealing. I have nothing more to add then what Rashad already stated. The minor thing that is out of place is that cloth-like texture you used for wallpaper. Maybe you should keep the pattern, but at least make it the same or close to the violet color as the other wall.

I'm amazed at what you did here, Trish. You improve exponentially. Nothing more to add. Just that inverse-gradient thing Rashad mentions. See it as a light that starts black and the further it goes, the brighter it gets just to the point when falloff dims it again. This is something that you can't find in reality (like light sources that suck light instead of giving - when you use negaitve lights. Not for this scene, though). Keep it up, keep it up.

Thankyou all very much and I will try the reverse lighting in my next render.Thankyou Rashad for your help with this I just hope to make the room almost as good as you do with your rooms.
