Thanks for looking.

This is a beautiful picture, as I said at the DAZ forum already. The background mountains look real. There is a problem on the water, or rather, under the water. It appears that we see the squares from the terrains used for the backdrop. Give the ground plane the same material and move it up so it matches the lower part of the terrain. Or make the ground plane sandy and move it a bit higher than the lower edge of the terrains. Apart from that, the scene would look even more real if rendered with soft shadows. While it renders away, you can collect the fallen leaves :)

All of the work in this scene is astounding, JoAJ! Very clever and efficient use of radials to support the indirect light instead of relying on the ambient channel flat glow. At this point there are some technical refinements you could make as Horo suggests to take it to the next level. On a realism note, the vegetation foliage colors are very important. Thanks for playing with the trees I modeled also. As I was saying, I try to use lower saturations for a more realistic look from vegetation. Also, I see that some of the leaves are casting colored shaows. This is because you have likely added a color of some sort to the transparency or volume color channel in the top third area of the material lab. It is best to keep the colors in that channel as greyscale. i will explain. When light passes through transparenct objects that light usually gains the color of the object it passes through. However, In reality the color saturation drops off very quickly in nature with distance. So I say this to say that in real life the shadows cast by a green leaf on a tree will appear greyscale or colorless by the time they reach the sand or sidewalk. Bryce does not soften caustics which is why you cannot rely on this effect which is what the transparency and volume color channels are designed to control. So for scenes like this one where shadows travel many feet before striking a surface, keep those channels in greyscale. Example, if you werer rendering a bug that was only an inch away from a green leaf, then you would expect the "greeness" to be visible on the bug, and you would add a touch of green to the transparency and volume color channels.

Excellent calming scene. I can feel the sand beneath my feet and I AM JEALOUS!

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment again guys - I really appreciate it.

At the moment I'm re-rendering the scene but God only knows when it'll be finished because I'm trying a Premium Render with soft shadows (I suppose that's what you meant Horo?) I've also changed the ground texture and moved the ground up, used the background texture rather than the sand as I felt the sand made it look a bit too bright, although I wouldn't mind doing one of each, maybe just a regular render, to compare. I'm not doing a large render this time either, just the normal size.

Rashad, I see what you mean about the colour in the shadows, the trees that did that are the one's each side which weren't yours, they were the ones (well, only one that I used twice of course) that I downloaded from Agent Smith at Rendo and I never gave a thought to looking at the volume and transparency, sure enough, one of them was yellow! Anyway that's been changed now. One of the reasons I used those two trees was because that's the colour of a lot of our palms around here - we have a lot of Golden Cane Palms and their leaves are generally a brightish shiny green going to yellow and gold - their trunks are gold as well, but that doesn't look right on the trees here to me.

I'll post this here one of these days - if it ever finishes which certainly won't be today as I've only just started it.
