Volcanic Archipelagos
Description: Another study in Eco systems. Birds from Daz. Lit with a radial for sunlight and my skylight hdri for skylight. There is also one more spotlight upside down to shine light up onto the undersides of the birds. Render time was only about 1 1/2 hours at high priority.

Feedback is appreciated. Thanks all for your time.

Gisela - I think this is your first appearance here. A very warm welcome to bryce5.com.

Rashad - Lighting is very good, the mist looks rather like smog. Very interesting setup. There is a scale problem, but it's not the nice birds, it's most probable the large waves on the water - something I get almost permanenty wrong. The islets may be small and the vegetation is small, too and fits. Or these are islands and the vegetation larger, and it fits, too. Only the waves make the landscape appear very small.

Quite apart from my nitpicking, this is a very uncommon and interesting setup and it is very charming. The large mountain seems a bit out of place to me, but this is definitely the artist's choice.

By the way, I've started to make something out of your trees from over at the DAZ forums. I'll let you know when I'm done with it.

Nits to pick, but brilliiant image

Two minor things jumped out at me.

The image looks distorted like a very wide angle lens was used. Everything leans away from the center. Leaning the big hill in towards the center would help offset this effect.

The color on the birds is off. Something strange and lemon & pastel about the yellow. I know you hate ambience, but it might fix this oddity.

The plants/Eco system and the POV are just brilliiant. The plants and stuff look extremely good. I mean WOW good. The POV from within the flock is also really cool.

Wow this is really good. Just out of curiosity how long did it take to place the trees? Really like the birds.

Beautiful picture, Rashad! Great setup. Horo mentioned about big waves, and I'm to agree with him, it looks a little strange. But except of this I have no cryticism to this picture. I have tryed your method of creating eco sistem, but the only thing I could achieve was group of lonely trees...

Thanks so much for the positive feedback all! I did work hard on this scene so to have you all say nice things makes me smile! The waves on the water surface are indeed part of the problem. The terrain underneath the water also has a bump or waviness contours to the model, and due to the transparency of the water it looks almost like waves on the water surface itself but this is an illusion. Even without the under terrain, the waves are still too big, at least to be without foam. I originally set the waves smaller but in the last moment made them larger. This why feedback is so necessary. Again, thanks all. More to come.
