MystRun
Description: The 3 Michael v.4, the 4 Noggins birds and the roughly 30 XFrog trees are from DAZ3D. The wooden catwalk was made with primitives and the water is Calm Grey Water, a free resource available here. The scene is set in a triangle of mirrors with height sensitive transparency (Fade Mirror, a free resource available here by David) to get a bit more trees without blowing the memory. Conventionally lit with 4 radials and the sun. IBL and soft shadows was out of the question because of the horrendous render time.

There is an annual race in the mist in honour of the game MYST.

Nice scene, Horo. Very good lited, reminds me of summer camp. I have a question: how did You get reflections from trees without reflectioning people and catwalk? When I tried to use fade miror I have reflection of all objects in the scene.

Thanks Alexandr. There are "unwanted" reflections. The far Michael at left is correct, the other one at right a reflection. You can also see at left in the distance an arm protruding from behind a tree. It is from the Michael at far right. The catwalks are also mirrored but it is difficult to say, which ones are right and which are reflections due to the viewing angle and te mist. The secret is how the mirrors are placed, how they are rotated and slanted.

I see, Horo. Now I understand that it is quite difficult to create such a scenes. Well done, Horo, and thanks for sharing your secrets!

Once again your skill is displayed. Even with the unwanted reflections, this is a remarkable work.

Smoke and Mirrors

Nice so its all smoke and mirrors.. This doesn't seem like a safe place to be running around. U could trip and fall on those planks.

Really nice picture, its very calm, and definately Mysty.

WOW! Yep, you are the man, Horo! Excellent in every way. Love the lighting. Did you disable the shadows on the four radials or was that not necessary? The Xfrog tress look very good indeed. The birds are particularly good looking. I am amazed, though in no way surprised at how gret this render is. 5/5

Rashad - no shadow casting for the 4 radials. Only the sun is responsible for the shadows.

Thank you all for your nice words. We need some criticism to improve, kudos are also important to encourage us to go on.
