Checkmate
Description: The chess figures, the table and chairs are from DAZ3D. The material on the figures was changed. The checkerboard was made from cubes. The carpet was found on the web and the colours were changed. Lit exclusively by the Living-Day HDRI, I made a while ago still with the mirror ball. Rendered with 256 lights, intensity 35 and effect 80. There is shadow banding but on the figures it is not visible, only at the right side of the board.

White is checkmated, the players have left the table.

Great textures on the pieces, but its hard to see witch is white and witch is black.
Nice work, and great lightning.
(think white is gonna win)

Really pretty picture. Love the textures on the figures, but Adrian is right kinda hard to see the difference in colors. Beautiful set up.

I really like the light here. The chess board and its pieces seem much more realisitc than the surrounding environment, a nice contrast even if it was not intentional. I agree the pieces are a tad difficult to distinguish. But I still think this glass is extremely convincing. Your marble is surprisingly good also, a very simple thing that I can hardly ever get right. I think the carpet is too bright however, and I think you could have added a dim radial light just off to the right to correct the shadow on the chair. Assembling the board the hard way seems to have been the right choice for the marble!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I agree that black and white are a bit difficult to separate. Now I haven't noticed that darn shadow on the chair, Rashad. You're right. I don't agree about the carpet being too bright. Look at the pawns, their hads are mirror balls and you can see that there is a window quite near and another farther away. In fact, almost the same position as for Bottled Ship, but made a while ago still with the mirror ball. The floor at that place is quite bright. The marble is, I have to confes, the texture that comes with that table from DAZ and not my doing.

Sorry this is late. My master workstation is getting rather cranky lately. If I loose another system my head is going to explode! :-(

This image is incredibly photo realistic and I have to give it a Fiver. However, the board is curiously undeveloped for the implied checkmate. There's nothing wrong with that, mind you, but it looks like an early checkmate against an inexperienced player. ;-)
