Spring Foliage
Spring Foliage

Spring Foliage
Description: Another in the seasonal progression. Testing further the sunlight/ skylight ratio and the leaf transparency technique. Ths is the highest light quality I have yet used so I think the lighting is more evenly distributed than with the other scenes. The source file has been lost, it was too large to save so I have nothing left but this render. Well I do have earlier versions but only up to the point of inserting a few of the larger trees, so it is almost like starting over. The sunlight is a radial cluster of 146 lights. The indirect light is provided by IBL as always quality 256. Total render time was 2 days 19 hours 30 minutes. Naturally at high priority. I did use the computer for other things during the render, it is impossible fo me to leave the computer alone for that many days in a row. Ground plane is David Brinnen's Dry Grass moss available here in the exchange.

Feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks all for your time.

You're unbeatable on these vegetation thingies. Amazing how real everything looks. The only qualms are with the foreground leaves at left. At this proimity we would expect to see the veins. The transparency and light, however, are immaculate. The background terrain is very beautiful and - though a small detail - makes a huge contribution to give the impression of a real countryside. Pitty you lost the complete source file. I also understand that it is impossible to render this in two parts. The light and shadows interact to intimately. You know that I can't resist to give you top marks for this.

...and Rashadcarter said let there be shrubs and trees and bushes, and there was a multitude of shrubs, trees and bushes... oh and a heck of a handfull of radial lights... and it was good..... it was very, very good...... and Rashadcarter spoke one more time and said 'Bryce has a bright future'.... and lo and behold.........

Bullit, Alexandr, Horo, Adrian, and Dhama. I am speechless at such overwhelming positive feedback. Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny Dhama, in a sense one does feel almost divine when construcing a scene, thinking about what will go where and why. that is until you run out of memory after adding only 3 complex trees to a scene and you realize that God has a better computer than you do and better software too!! If only I had some real power over Bryce's future. Alas, I hope you are right Dhama, let there be Bryce!!!
