The models are indeed very nicely done. Nice render with the soft shadows engaged. A bit sterile, but then, you don't meet crowds in the desert very often.

I agree. Very good modeling and nice scene arrangment. That fog background seems a bit creepy though. It gives the feeling that this village is 'lost', existing no where, outside of time. Once you find your way here you'll never find your way back. It's the Village of the Damned. ;-)

Wow some super models I like them all. The coiled up rope must have been tricky. Nice detail on the doors with the handles and nice trim around the windows and great texture to boot. Nice

Very noce modeling. You are a clever soul, something very interesting seems to be happening with the lighting. I am guessing it is IBL or perhaps a dome of radials? Either way, You are getting very nice bump on the walls due to the material and the way the bump responds to the multidirectional light. I feel your outdoor lighting is definetly working wonders here and must be mentioned. I think you can have even more confidence in your real lights and use even less ambient glow as filler, but that is just me. The sunlight is great, pity the default sun casts soft shadows that are 500x too soft. Still soft is better than fully hard shadows any day. Great work as usual!

Here I used the same technique as in Purple Land I just created HDRI with clouds, but this time rendered it as a background + default bryce sun.

Nice bump and very-very good models! The architecture matches pretty well the desert "flora". Did you texture the barrels and boxes?

Now, if the sun shadows turn so soft then I think you'll have to setup your own sun with controllable shadow softness. Many people are using a radial light positioned very high above the scene (to get the shadows almost parallel) and with an enormous intensity so the light doesn't lose its energy too quick when shining with linear falloff.

Once you put the radial high enough you'll have to choose between using few-hundred intensity and linear falloff, or no more then 10~12 for intensity and no falloff at all. In my experience for a noon-afternoon outdoor cases you should always crank up the radial's shadow softness to full 100. See if that works for you. Pay attention to the light color related to sun position.
As far as IBL goes - really good lightspread color result. However it isn't always necessary to render the image too large, because then you'll end up lowering antiAliasing- or lighting settings in order to fit within a reasonable render-time. Your img is 1024x so that's around on the edge in my opinion. Make it 800x600 but higher the IBL quality to 512 so you can lose (soften) the ibl shadows. These were my suggestions. Oh, one last thing - on the far left one of your support struts doesn't touch the ground. You should fix that as well.
You seem to be doing things very well, Alexandr. Few more light-tweaks and models and this image will worth more then 5.
