Description: More fun with IBL. After some discussion with Horo I have reworked the hdri I made from Whispers in the Woods. This time all background elements are properly blurred. Foreground roses are free models downloaded from the internet. Lighting is simply the hdri alone with no ground plane so all light penetrates from all sides. The petals and leaves and even the insects are fit with the foliage transparency or SSS I am always talking about. It creates a very plausible effect of light interaction within the leaves and petals adding to the realism. total render tiem was about 1 day at full resources. On a laptop with a single core processor this would take about 1 week.

Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks all for your time.

The roses are very nice and the light on them convincing. The smaller butterfly at the left looks a bit like a striking aircraft because we see it head on. And the background is flawless this time. It fits superbly and it really looks as if there wer DOF involved. Pity such scenes need so long to render. I'd need three and a half days at least. Good job, Rashad and I'm glad you could make the HDRI backdrop look convincing.

This is great picture! background and foreground looks great but foregroud rose seems a bit poligonal :) Anyway, very nice work.

Thanks so much you two. Alex you are right abou the foreground flower. I zoomed probably a little bit too far but I needed to do that in order to give the impression of scale to sell the hdri as dof. Tricky tricky tricky. I could have and should have modeled the roses myself, I could have made them as hd as I wanted.

This scene was more fun than work, mostly becasue the models were already done.

More to come.

Thanks alot Kounelos and tbahles. This one was pretty fun compared to most of the others. The bug flying toward the camera was my way of adding some imperfection to the image.

I can only say that these roses are one of the most beautiful bryce flower renders I've seen up-to-date. Astounding... The only thing that gives away this isn't a photo are the leaves, they are a little bit on the flat side, because I don't see any bump on them. Other then that, you truly deserve a point for each rose there :) I guess this makes more then five :)
