Highland
Description: Just having fun, nothing else. A couple of terrains with modified materials from David and the Bluebells in the foreground are also from David and available here (modified, too). The sky is out of the library. The scene is lit by a light probe I made from an HDRI panorama I shot at lake Marmorera. The sun of the probe was moved to the position of the Bryce sun, which was switched off and replaced by a yellowish radial light to compensate the rather blue tint from the HDRI. Rendered with 128 lights to get the soft shadows, the shadows intensity was set to 95% to have some light from below to light up the rather dark shadows. There is some haze around after Rashad's fashion. The bluebells in the foreground used up 9/10 of the render time for the whole picture (transparency + HDRI = render hog).

I like it. The sky looks awesome, along with everything else. You are crafy enough that i can nitpick and say that I would have liked to see the base of the snowy mountain with the beginnings of vegetation. It would bridge the two terrain better so they would not appear to be from slightly different worlds. The lighting choices are very effective. The warm glow to the sunlight is a perfect answert to the blueness of the hdri. Your terrains are expertly modeled, very natural. Over-all, a super successful scenario.

Isn't all of this just for fun? I really like the set up for the green mountains. The texture is really good, (go David!). The moon is also pretty cool. Was it added w/ Bryce? Good clouds.

One thing I am confused about. In about the middle of the lower green hills (on the darker area) right above the blue bells it looks like there is a green signature. Was that on purpose or just happened to turn out that way?

Thank you for your kind comments. I see your point, Rashad, but do not fully agree. The snow mountains are really high and the lower part with the vegetation out of sight below. What I probably should have done is increasing the haze a triffle to give the far mountain range a bit more distance.

Right, Connor, it is always fun. But sometimes, we want to accomplish something particular. Here, I just fooled around aimlessly, let myself drawn into the landscape. What you see is in fact my signature. You may discover it on other pictures of mine, too. It is not as amazing as Slartibartfast's signature on the glacier, but somehow inspired by it.

Fine "nuance-ing" there in this pic. The green terrain in its upper half look sooo impressive! Erosion tool used here and there? :) The only thing I can "complain" about is the snowy terrain on the left of this image. Because of its shape, compared to the middle it looks more like a sand dune - curved peaks and clean slopes. Aside from that - a very nice image! If there was a fresnel-reflective terragen type of water surface present, I'd swear that David did this "Highland". Good going, Horo!
