Hmm. Well, as I read the comments from the first version I can only say that the image iss still quite stunning. I get the feeling that you may not have understood what Richter and Horo were suggesting. I cannot hope to say with certainty that I understood but I think I can understand.

The issue is not with the darkness of the shadows. Seem to me that the shadows themselves are less deep in this version, personally I like the deeper shadows of the previous version better. What I think they were suggesting was that you use the soft shadow feature in the light lab. This would give you shadows with soft fuzzy edges like those of real life, and it would add great 3d depth to the scene. I could be wrong about what they meant so surely Horo will clarify for you.

Nice work,as this scene is worth it to revise until you get the maximum impact.

I can only echo what I have commented for the first. Like Rashad, I prefer the first one. The "issue", the hard shadows, is not resolved here.

Shadows can be grey or dark - this is the contrast of the shadow and it is less dark here than on the previous one.

The edge of the shadow can be hard or soft, this is the transition area between the shadow and the lit part on a surface. The farther away the light source shining on an object that casts a shadow, the softer the transition becomes - also the less the contrast. Put a pencil vertical on the table and light it with a torch and observe what happens to the shadow and you see what I mean.

Soft shadows (transition area) must be engaged in the sky lab (this is the master control) and then for the lights used in the light lab. In the render options, use premium with soft shadows engaged. Be warned: the render time will increase dramatically. Use more than 16 rays per pixel (render time from 16 to 64 rays per pixel increases 4-fold). I think for what you've done here, the extra wait will be well worth it.

Yes, softer shadows means softer edges of the shadows. So I guess we are clear on that one.

This img does actually look better then the previous. This time the light is allowed to interact a bit more with all the objects. Good.
