Mountains
Description: I like the background in this picture but the foreground of it looks very flat. Is there a way to fix that with a different texture or should I add massive amounts of trees to make it look good? Overall I kinda like it. I used David Brinnens texture Dry grass moss stone. Worked a lot better than any of the textures that Bryce came with. Comments and help are welcome. Thank you.

I've noticed David's material at once. Good choice here. The mountain range looks amazingly nice and the rising fog adds a lot to reality. There is some focus missing, as some would say but I've had to stagger along such countrysides often enough to know that in reality, there is seldom a focus. Goats, ibexes even cows would go on such a place. Or a crashed aeroplane or chopper. You could also say, there are troops all around but so well camouflaged that we cant see them ...

The foreground may come out more 3D-ish if you introduce IBL, using a rather low dynamic HDRI which produces a lot of omnidirectional ambient light. The main word here is "may".

Looks great. The terrain is awesom and you have done a terrific job modeling the terrains. The fog is good but under this bright sun it would usually be baked away.

I am a bit late to comment on this scene but I have been looking at it wondering what is missing. While the material you have chosen looks very nice the terrain seems flat. I wonder if some added noise in the terrain editor would help. And do you have your terrain set to a higher resolution? Then perhaps changing the position of the sun as the lighting may effect terrains appearance.

Very nice looking mountains I have a hard time getting mine to look this good.
