Description: I started playing with this one last week but was having a hard time concentrating. I finally did some tweaks on it last night and I'm satisfied with this one. It has that nice glassy 3D I've been working to achieve and the amber color feels comfortably warm. The refraction level in this one slowed render time to almost 4 hours but I think it was worth it.

All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Yes, very nice, warm and 3D. You know of what this reminds me? A doorknob from a wardrobe at my grandparents. I think it is the colour combination that makes me think of antiquitated things. I know that our spektyr made something very modern and contemporary here.

This looks like some kind of design enveloped in a glass wrapping. This is a very nice abstract. It appears to be many toruses with a high transparency but I am sure there must be some mirrored effects going on here.

Thanks Guys!

Horo-
I see what you mean. It does have the look of a sculpted glass doorknob. Thank you for the kind compliment! :-)

Render Man-
It's composed of 16 toruses with a transparent crystal material set within a reflective sphere. I have the Total Internal Reflections set to 10 and Maximum Ray Depth set to 6. Lighting is supplyed by a white sun and an 8 point ring of amber tone radial lights. The areas of flame effect were unanticipated but they seem to add warmth to the image.

On a general note, I have to say that I'm irritated with the obvious attitude some people have that Digital Artwork isn't worth consideration compared to the more traditional mediums (Painting, Sculpture, etc). I'm offended by the idea they have that the Digital medium isn't true art or doesn't require a whole lot of tallent and therefore it's second rate. MyArtContest.com didn't even give me an honorable mention even though I consider my work to be be more visually impactful than the majority of the submissions. The used only one person as a judge and therefore relied on the preferences and predjudices of that one person. I'd just like to let you all know that it's not a good idea to pay the price of submission into that site for the above reasons. They are definitely not worth the price or effort and do not represent the preferences of the global art community.

Again, awesome. All of your abstract artworks are really fun and creative. And I must say if you ever find a doorknob like that I want one especially if you made it.

Thanks, Connor!!

Regarding the doorknob, I wish I had a tallent for sculpting. Based on my digital work can you imaging the things I would be sculpting? No matter how bizarre my work might be it would likely be a whole lot more interesting than the atrocities I've seen in this city. LOL

What I see here, Spektyr, is again a fine addition to the bryce5 dot com gallery. I think you are beginning to "feel" the colors that are mixing together fused by the reflections and the light play. And why would I say that? Well, you seem to improve your ways of creating such symetric forms/images and given that the color combination is crucial for this type of "kaleidoscopic" art, you are not showing "false" color nuances, but exactly those which work together. In some older entries the element of "experimenting" is more or less obvious, more or less sensible, but not here :) That is why I say you are already "feeling".

I have chacked the website you pointed out. There is said that for a submission any type of media is accepted. As I browsed through the galleries almost all of the art I saw was the traditional art - painting & sculpting. Just here and there Digital photography, but not a trace of 3d. And this makes me think that the purpose of "MyArtContest.com" is showcasing mainly (if not only) traditional art. This type of art represents the "Mother" of todays digital art, and what happens in digital art is most often either trying to achieve photorealism or mimic and improving over traditional techniques that help in matte painting, light study and rig, color temperature, compositing elements from animate/inanimate nature and so on. The digital medium is highly influenced by the traditional medium, although it is an entirely separate type of Art. I think the two mediums should be mixed only to a certain extent. And, Spektyr, from this point of view and personal observations I can make a guess of why you haven't been "mentioned" in the end of the contest. There are galleries all around the world and for everyone, but some of them have this very specific art acceptance, at least for the winning state.
