Twister 3
Description: I just love these glassy ones. ;-)

At least I'm feeling better. I've learned to deal with the back problems but these occasional 'blue' moods are a killer.

Anyway, I want to thank Rashad again for letting me know about the Lightning 2.0b thing. It's too bad I lost a processor on one of my duals. The motherboard has gotten flakey too so I've retired it for now. I'm thinking of buying a surplus 3.2 GHz P4 or two to speed things up further. At $125 a pop I'll be able to swing it in a couple of months, that is unless someone local to me buys the pool cues I have posted for sale on CraigsList sooner. ;-)

All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Amazing. Is it solid gold or is it transparent, either way it is beautiful? The gold specular halo does the trick certainly. The texture makes me want to reach into the image and touch it. Incredible work here Spektyr!

Very very nice color and design. Reminds me of those pin wheels we used to have when I was a younger which was some time back. I really like this abstract.

Thanks Guys!

Rashad-
Actually I have the Reflection and Transparancy levels set at 50/50 with an amber gold Diffusion and Specularity. It's illuminated with the white sun directly behind the camera and my 8 point spotlight ring in white. The target object is 8 boolean cutaway crescents made out of spheres, something new I was playing with.

Render Man-
I remember the pinwheels too. I also remember those standard diamond shaped rice paper kites that are impossible to find now days, tops, yoyos, etc, etc, etc. ;-)

I rather thought of a turbine blade as we have them here to make electricity from water rushing down the mountains. Though ours are not golden. Great job here, spektyr.

Thanks, Horo!

This was another experiment using higher TIR settings, which we all know drives up render time. It's also the first time I did one of these using a boolean object. I'll probably try others later. ;-)

animation suggestion

Really like the transparency.....really adds to the
complexity and beauty.

Here's a suggestion: render at least 5 variations in
different colors. Put them in a Flash slideshow
(I have a freebie you can have if you like); when
they transition, the only thing that changes is the
colors....e.g. I did this one years ago with Strata3D.

I haven't seen all your art yet, so maybe you've already done something similar in an animation.(?)

It gives the impression of animation, but only loads one image at a time....as many as you want. =)
