VERY NICE!!!! I love the Autumn color in the leaves!

What version of Bryce are you using and did you try to reinstall it? It's strange that it's corrupting your scene files.

It looks like you are at it again allot of time and effort in the placement of all these trees. Very nice background terrains. The rocks could use some more polygons but I guess this is the way Bryce rocks look. I did see a tutorial somewhere on making the rocks look better but cannot remember where. Your could make your own rocks in your modeling program.

Nice placement on the foreground plants and trees.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the file Kounelos. It is a well documanted problem that Daz is looking to remedy right now. As a warning to you I will tell you what likely caused the crash or the corruption. The copy, paste, duplicate, and replicate commands can cause the memory to bloat. This is very common with imported meshes and trees or other high polygon items. So anytime you make lots of copies of imported meshes you can have trouble. Trees can also give problems because they are very high in polygons. I have found that in scenes that have alot of duplications of meshes the act of minimizing the Bryce screen to work in other programs and then restoring the Bryce screen to continue working throws the memory into overdrive. The only remedy is to save very often and to save each file under a different name because you can save a corrupt version over a good version if you are not careful. The file will appear to be saving just fine but you will notice that the save hangs at a certain percentage for a long time, many minutes. This is when the memory is making multiple copies of the scene saving over and over. The maximum file size limit is 2gb so the file grows from a few mbs to about 1.99gb. When you seek to re-open the file the scene is corrupt and will not load. It has to do with the way Bryce keeps track of your actions in the undo buffer. It gets confused and makes virtual copies bloating the memory severly.
In a nutshell you can avoid the "corrupt save"/ "out of memory" error in the following ways:

1. Be very careful using the copy, paste, duplicate, or replicate commands on complex meshes and imported meshes. If you do make duplications save the file immediately. You must then close Bryce and reload the scene to clear out the memory stuck in the undo buffer. Make sure the file names are unique every single time! If you do not close and reload after duplications the memory will remain bloated even after the file has been saved, you must relaunch Bryce. Also make sure you conduct the save before you minimize the Bryce screen to temporatily work in other programs. The act of restoring the Bryce screen seems to add greatly to the memory problem when duplications have occured slowing the system to a crawl. It's like it overloads the scene when the Byrce screen is restored. I have found this as I edit image textures in 2d programs for example. it can kill the scene when duplications are involved.

2. Be careful with undo commands as they can also cause a crash or out of memory error. Try not to undo, at least I try to avoid it whenever possible.

3. Careful deleting photo textures from the picture editor in the material lab. On Daz models deleting a loaded Daz texture will guarantee a crash upon save.

Oh yeah, great job on the scene above. I love the tilted tree. It makes me feel like I could fall off the edge if I am not careful with each step.

You have a way to create these scenes we think of standing near an edge and looking downwards. This is a very nice scene.

Apart from Rashad's recommendations, be aware that Bryce has a 2 GB memory limit hard coded and saves the files compressed. That means that it is possible that your br6 file is "only" 1.5 GB but when loaded goes over 2 GB. Up to Bryce 5.5, the file size reflects the memory footprint.

Have you ever thought of a multi-part render? In the case of this picture, you could have created lake, mountains and sky and rendered this. Then, create part of the foreground and deleting lake and mountains. When the foreground is done, add a 2D-face as background and give it the picture of the previous render as material and render as final picture. This could be a means to reduce memory usage.

Horo,

I also considered that maybe he had constructed a truly immense scene, but there is not nearly enough complexity above to create a 1.5gb source file. Likely this file is no more than 300mb, but the corrupt save has inflated the file size to nearly 2gb. This has happened to me dozens of times that file sizes bloat indefiently until they reach the limit.

It needs to be a little brighter, but apart from that your image is very good. ... Is it autumn already ;)
