Indigona
Description: This one served as a nice speed test for my upgraded (well...sort of) render farm.

Before the addition of two old systems that were gathering dust (UGH!) in storage this image (full size 1280x1024) would have taken about 2.5 hours. It actually took about 1.25 hours, about a 100% speed increase. Not bad, I say, and it will help with my next animation which will be based on - Do I really need to say it? hehe - this setup. I'll be doing this one at full production size, 780P at 30 fps, with a moving camera. I think this one will be a new masterpiece for me. :-)

Of course all this is just leading up to 'Dance of the Spheres', which, in my exceptionally large mind, grows in grandiosity and dazzlisity - I love inventing new words. - day by day. As a result of this Darwinian mental process I figure I'd better work up to this majestic work of animatory acrobatics in stages rather than go right for it and end up with something less than my gargantuan ego will be satisfied with. ;-)

All comments welcome.

Great abstract Spektyr. I really like the color on this one. This must be your cobalt blue. I can see why you like it. That is quite a grandioseous scene.

I have two old computer systems setting around my home I might need to check into this render farm thing.
The one computer is very fast and has a very nice graphics card.

Thanks Guys!

Render Man-
This is meant to be indigo, half way between blue and purple, but there are shades of cobalt in it.

If you have any understanding on basic networking you can render single frames faster by runing Bryce Lightning on all systems, using 'Render Animation', setting the 'Output Module' to 'BMP Sequence', select 'Render on Network' and then select 'Tile Optimization' in the 'Configuration' dialoge. It's the same for animations except you'd select 'AVI Movie', 'Quick Time Movie' ro 'RealMovie' and a compression codec as the 'Output Module'. I usually set 'Uncompressed' and then run the AVI through a converter to make it Dvix or Xvid.

I can do many things with my computer but there are some things I am just plain ignorant about. I did pay computer person to come to my home about a year ago and he did network my computers so I could use the info from my old hard drive. I have two monitors so I was able to use one computer on one monitor and the other computer on the other. But I disconnected it once I transferred the hard drive information I needed. So I need to check into this. But rather doubt that I will try it myself as it takes me hours to figure out this stuff. I would rather pay someone. My mind is not quite as large as yours. Ha

Very nice, spektyr. That's another one I see a lot of things in it, the best is the skeleton at the bottom in the centre.

RenderMan - Bryce Lightning (or a render farm) only makes sense if your machines work with roughly the same speed. I have 5 machines I can team up to do the work but I mainly use them for separate projects. As for making it work - it's simple because I could it make it work, Q.E.D.

Horo,

Thanks for the info it will save me some money. I think I will hook up my old machine and just use it when I am rendering on my duel processor.

Thanks Horo!

I taught myself everything I know hands on. At one time I had a 10 system network crunching work units for SETI 24/7. I built the majority of the systems myself. They ranged from original Pentiums to P4. I never fooled with P2 or Xeon though. I even had an old DEC Alpha running both NT4 and Red Hat Linux 4 dual boot. You should have seen my electric bills. LOL What can I say? I was making good money back then. Now I'm jobless, homeless and struggling with both mental and physical disabilities. Who'da thunk it?
