Grass Trail
Description: I was thinking about Alex Quinn's earlier works and my own pieces on grass and ponds (witch sadly he doesn't keep up for long) and tried to rethink how we did then and now.I wasn't able add a pond in this time, but I got to say some of the stuff learned made a world of difference in past pieces.

I am learning alot as well. Alot of good stuff going on here Fox. It has a dreaminess to it I really like, it takes the edge off making the image friendlier. Your grass looks awesome. The tall grass in the background looks really tall. The sky is TERRIFIC. I feel as though the sky sets the mood very well and due to it's brightness justifies the brightness of the rest of the scene. Haze works for me. Blurring postwork seems spot on! Also, the reflections on the car help to bring it all together very nicely.

Are we missing a shadow on the grass from the car? Grass can be tricky to spot shadows on from certain angles so it might just be my perception.

Due to the overcast nature of the sky the lack of a super pronounced shadow seems physically accurate to a certain degree since the direct sunlight is blocked and the atmosphere is spreading the light fairly evenly across the sky. Yet I feel a certain amount of shadow beneath the car would not hurt. Over all I think this piece is easy to look at and it looks like you are having fun.

Yes, we always learn and that's part of the fun. Grass with DOF looks cool. I do miss some darkening under the car and grass and left rear wheel interact strangely with each other. The far and darker grass - I like that very much, but I perceive it as a forest, probably due to missing distance clues. The reflection on the car are excellent. Dramatic camera angle.

That car really shines with this lighting. The first thing that caught my eye was the tires. I like the reflection in the rear bumper. Also noticed your trade mark between the back lights. The trees in the back look a little to even on the tops but it could be from the angle you shot the scene.

I couldn't really do trees well at this time, so I used a mountain terrain and created really tall grass to hide the infinite plain from sight. There is a shadow from the car, but I'm thinking one of the haze cubes in front of the camera has blurred out the shadows a bit.
What I really wanted to do was use the grass in a pond piece. Which ended up adding a car, then foxgirl, removing the lake and foxgirl, and a grass mountain.

It is still a great scene and yes of course you should not leave out the fox girl. Ha She could have been leaning on the front hood like you see in the car magazines. I have trouble with the infinite plane at times so certainly understand. I think your grass turned out well.
