More Grass
Description: This grass was made using the grain texture in Photoshop. The grain was turned to it highest limit and then I used gray scale to increase the contrast. The mountains in the back are textured from another grass that I made experimenting in the material lab. The grass texture on the grass was a high res grass texture I found on the internet.

The render was done using the outdoor HDRI.

I made some mounds on the grass in the back to see how the texture was going to appear when it was placed on a raised surface.

Nice work. I like the photo texture you used. I feel like in the foreground the grass texture may be a bit low in resolution. The image texture does not respond so well to the mounds, it wants to be as it is in the foreground. Nice to hear you are using the hdri tools. I think this is very good grass.

Yes, grass looks quite good - a bit of pixelation is apparent, but it might be from the texture. You might have to use a second terrain to make mounds and grass more obvious.

Thanks for the comments it took several tries to get it this far but it still need some more experimenting. The grass texture looks like a ball of matted grass in the sphere icon in the materials lab. I will try to put together a scene using a different texture.

In order to get this look i had to decrease the size of the terrain duplicate and tile to make it blend into the mountains. I used the 1248 on the terrains. I sometimes use 4096 but then the edit features slow down some.

Rashadcarter1- Did you ever tell us were the tutorial was for the clouds or are you holding out on us? Ha

I did a search on the net and found one tutorial were you use elongated spheres that have atmospheric volume clouds. Has anyone tried this method?

It sounds similar to what I did in Tropical Island Sky. In the way of the tutorial I have not been able to locate it either. I suggested to Adrian that he ask Icecreamman for the link. As I did not develop this technique I feel odd posting a mat into the exchange. I need to play around with it and create my own variation so that there is no conflict of interest. I'll work on it tonight and see if I can post something by tomorrow.
