Nice setup. Due to the lighting I have the feeling that I'm watching a play. The strongest light is directed towards the both characters with hard-edged shadows, which indicates that some sort of projector might have been used. You didn't say what were you after in your description, so my comment is based on a pure observation, no plusses or minuses. I like the forest on the background. Is this a texture or are those models?

A terrific set up Alex. Many scenes rendered in Daz Studio can feel like a play because of the background cyclorama. You may decide to build 3d environments in the future, but I do not know how well Daz Studio handles polygon counts. As Richter I have noticed the lighting. Soft shadows would be nice. Also based on the shadows it would appear that the lights are positioned a bit low. I think the light would look more natural if it was positioned a little bit higher, But I can see that you did not want to have the lights look too much of sunlight, so the low angle makes sense. I like that there are two lights. The lights do a great job of telling us where to focus our attention.

You are making me want to lear to render in Studio! Yet another program to master!

Also, since you are becoming an expert, how exactly do you soften shadows in Daz Studio? Also, are there any tutorials you have used that you found beneficial? thanks in advance.

This is suposed to be an outside scene in a garden, with light from the setting sun to the right and artifical light coming from a building off to the left.
That is why the odd shadows. But with two types of lights the shadows would make sense.

Well, hard to believe but I have never used a tutorial for Daz Studio. I just dove in and tinkered with the settings for the lights and found out what works.

There is a setting for shadows. One for raytrace and one for deep shadow. There is also a boas setting. I think. I still don't know what that does.

If I find any tutorials I will add them to a later post for his render.

And the enviroment, has it's own textures. I just set them up so they look good snd go from there. Still new at using them.

Even if you said otherwise, for me, this does look like happening on a stage. There is the light that suggest it to me, the backdrop looks like a photograph/painting, looking 2D because of the subdued light that falls on it; and third, the poses of the figures look to me like on a play. The gentleman seems to want to console or urge the lady, while she appears very reluctant. Nevertheless, the scene is excellent.

Um, their both men, and the taller one is taking the other guy away. Kind of like he was waiting for someone and the guard is asking him to leave a park that closes at sunset.

It's a heavily overgrown corner of the garden. I'll try to add a light to shine down on the background and see if that helps.

Well this scene was lost. Not sure what happened but to try the different lighting I would have to recreate it. Unfortunatly I can't do that right now.

Lost!

That is very unfortunate Alex! I really like the way this scene was developing. This has happened to me often and I have found that the second time around I usually am able to do an even better job than the first attempt. Good luck!
