Experiments in Green 4c
Description: This is the same picture and resolution as 4a. The difference here is the use of soft shadows, blurry reflections, and true ambience. It gives the picture a smoother, deeper feel in my opinion. It also brings in colors from the outer skin of the object.

Yes, this render is even better than the original. You used premium AA which will always give respectable results. It is the higher AA that gives the scene it's more "finished" feel. You mention the true ambience effect. It can be very useful in situations like this one. But in most cases I would suggest avoiding all things that involve the ambient channel, even engaging the true ambience which is an extention of the ambeint channel. As you work on different scenes you will find the strengths and weaknesses of the ambient channel. Since your piece is abstract and not realistic, ambient is just fine.

This one ist the best of the series. The reflections are a bit brighter on this than on 4a. I don't like the others too much - they are a bit on the bright side for my taste, but that's a completely personal impression and has nothing to do with the value of the abstract artwork you created.

Thanks for the comments.

Horo I completely agree with the brightness issues on the other renders. I tend to like darker more muted scenes. Scenes that play more with shadow and contrast really strike me. However, a lot of people tend to think my art is too dark, my music to sparse, and my writing the same. So I tend to take the opinions of the majority audience in to account.

You're doing good, Mike. I like your work, though my favourite stays "Experiments in Green 1". In my opinion it is the one that has the most glassy/crystal look amongst all "Experiments". It's like I'm close and zooming with my camera to a green-lit icicle. Nice effects in each one post nevertheless. Keep up!
