Description: I just began using Bryce 5 this past week. It is required learning for a new job.
So, this might not be great, but I still wanted some feed back.

Kicks my butt for sure on my first try. You have some very nice things going on here, I'd say just keep exploring as you have been. The water is very nice. The wave surface is always challenging but as you play around in the dte you will find more options. Nice to meet you and welcome to Bryce 5. Hope you learn to like it as much as I have.

Curious, you say that bryce5 is required learning for your new job. Is this a job in the graphic arts industry?

Very nice coposition over all. The wave pattern of the water is a bit odd but for someone who is just starting out you did a good job. :-)

Welcome BigMike! Outstanding job for a newbie. Very psychodelic sort of water. Nothing wrong with that, just not very real. My advise is for the mountains: use higher resolution on the terrains, they look "pyramidish", the triangles of the mesh are too obvious. You can set this in the terrain editor by clicking on the gridlike square. Select resolution first, then generate terrain.

Thanks you for the kind comments and advice.

Bryce is required for my new job. I will be designing CD and DVD covers for bands my company films and records. I am also expected to progress in to Maya, Lightwave, and Poser. Those programs are more for building green screen effects.

If anybody has advice on how to make sure water doesn't take over the whole ground plane I would be happy to hear it.

If you apply a water material to an infinite plane it will surely extend in all directions into infinity. You can apply water to a simple cube if you want and you can adjust the size of the cube as you need to from there.

I am glad to hear that Bryce5 is required learning for your new job. It will provide you with alot of good content for the cd covers. I assummed the real deal type programs like Maya would also be required. Those programs are much more powerful than bryce but not nearly as easy to use. I wish you the best with Bryce and all of your 3d art endeavors.

Wish I could use Bryce for my job! I will be doing some design work though, for our CD eventually, and for images to go into a book (Marcher Lord Press).

Look for tutorials, there are a MILLION of them for bryce. They have helped me tremendously in improving my skill. Remember, some very talented individuals have used Bryce to make top quality images for very little investment. Learning a decent photo editor is a must too.
