Description: Top left yafray-skylight.
Top right Indigo
B. Left - Carrara - sky light
B.Right - Bryce - HDRI+sun+soft shadows

Well, not much to discover here, accept for how each renderer does it's job, I forgot to change the sky color in yafray render to blue, other then that everything else is kept the same in all renders. Bryce one also has textures.

Interesting. Question, might you be able to render the Carrara version with the sun coming from behind instead of in front?

Either way it appears that my point is true, that most render engines that provide indirect lighting do not render the shaded regions as almost black, even in the face of bright sunlight.

I really would like to see the Carrara render from the other sun angle if possible.

B y the way, what hdri did you use for the bryce render? Also, is there ambient on the ground plane?

Sorry, I got confused between the Carrara and bryce renders. I mean to ask if we can see the bryce render with the sun on the other side? Thanks bud.

Sure, you mean from behind the house? I can do that. I don't know what hdri it is but came with bryce it was in one of the example scenes that david made and I just saved it as a sky because it is no where to be found in bryce folder.

Not from the back of the house itself, I just want you to reposition the bryce sun. I think you will notice the ned to raise the hdri level when you move the sun around but we will see.

After your side by side and seeing the Carrara render I think I will render the Perfectville scenes once again but this time I will change the light balance a bit so that the direct sunlight is much brighter in comparison to the indirect light. I used a situation where the direct sun was about 7 times more than the idirect. But I will try making it about 10x as bright to see if the balance is more believeable. Thanks Gat for you diligence.

thanks, my diligence is very happy! :P

by the way the hdri is positioned to match the sun, so if I move the sun I will have to move the hdri, other wise those shadows will be visible more then before, but I will give it a try.

Move the hdri if needed no problem. I am more interested in what you do with the intensity levels.
