Wonder 1
Description: This is my first render with Hiro model, and a few props.

I'm working on trying to make a realistic fire for the firepot behind him. Since this is rendered completely in Studio, I need to learn how to make and apply templates with my textures to items.

I know it's hard to see but he is holding an earing, and is wondering who's it i s not seeing anyone in the area.

The next render I might add the owner of the earing. . . we shall see.

This is a very nicely lit piece of work. I'm eager to see how it will develop.

I love the sense of layering. The hair has a nice sense of movement to it, very 4d. I am curous about the bumpmapping. DazStudio has some pretty cool bump capacities. It does not look to me like there is any bumping going on. Really nice texture on the firepot, is it your own creation? As Horo, I am excited to see how this scene develops.

Thanks. The building model is the Aedis Caatna.

And what do you mean there doesn't look lik there is any bumping going on?

bumping

There is a difference between shading and bumpmapping. Clearly the image based textures are weathered and have 3d shading. But I do not see that shading represented as actual levels of elevation on the model surfaces. I do not render in Studio so I do not know how to encourage you to do it, but I feel that the textures appear slightly flattened. For example the foreground bricks do not cast any shadows. If the bricks were really sticking out from the wall they would cast visible shadows. It is more an observation than a criticism.

Ah

Ok I understand. I think it's cause one of the lights in the scene is shinning directly at the building model and not at an angel. Which would give it that flat look. I'll try to angel the lights in the next render and see if that helps.

Clever point on the lighting angles. It probably will help.
