Boot-Hamlet
Boot-Hamlet

Boot-Hamlet
Description: The boot-houses are from DAZ3D, the forest in the background was made from billboards by Foleypro (purchased at DAZ). The scene is lit by the ?Dungeon Dimensions? HDRI I made from an artwork by David (see http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=2759). The light is not natural with a salmon-coloured sun and the HDRI producing red and blue light. I thought it gives it a warm touch. I don't remember if I had rotated it but it was rendered with quality 128, intensity 6 and effect linear 250.

With this picture, I wish all co-brycers and friends here on this site a Merry Christmas and a Happy, productive 2008.

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.

Ah! So this must be her neighborhood. Hmm. Looks kind of deserted. Where are all of her alleged children? ;-)

Nice weathered texture on the boots. The trees and snow are marvelous! Definitely a fiver! :-)

Though the scene should've been darker, I like what I see. The terrain and the trees work perfectly together, the clouds seem very 3D, far from what we used to see as "clouds" in Bryce, the stars are nice addition. The white color of the terrain material is just the right one, maybe a little more bump on it to be finished in my view. Also, you did well putting some reflection on the flat surface (that is meant to be ice perhaps). Good work overall, which somehow "radiates" warmth and calmness. Merry Christmas to you too, Horo!

The lighting, while perhaps not natural as you suggest, really brings to snow to life and as said above, lends a warm colour to the scene which is very pleasing. The snow is very effective - a pity there wasn't some spare to sprinkle over the boot homes (maybe they don't have cavity wall insulation) but I recognise how tricky that would have been to achive convincingly, so I will not harp on about it. Shoelaces look great under the IBL lighting, Dungeon Dimension is rapidly becoming a favorite for me, along side bluegrey moon. The blance of colour and light intensity seems to bring the best out in many scenes. Good choice and thank you for your Christmas image!

Sky, excellent. Foleypro trees, almost too good. All of it is very nice. I can feel the indooriness of the hdri, and it gives the scene a sence of coziness also. I can see a fiver!

Brian - I had put this picture up three years ago. I officially got those tree billboard from DAZ. I've been at Renderosity for a year or so. I couldn't have got them from there.

They are excellent, otherwise, I wouldn't have used them. Thank you for giving them away for free.

You're a good man. The labour you've done for Bryce since 6.0 (perhaps even much earlier) is, unfortunately, only fully appreciated by the few who know. I'm one of the priviledged.
