Lache Games animated
Description: Hello guys! For maybe 2 years or so I've been posting only static rendered images. Now I give you something you'll probably find very interesting to watch :) Me and my roommate decided to make our own game-development "company" and we even started working on our first game - he's the programmer, and I'm creating all the art, models and textures required. Everything is runnin' smoothly so far. This animation represents our serious intentions to create something of value, something really good that hopefully most people will enjoy. Sorry about the quality of the scr-shots I'm posting here, those are directly captured from my player ( www.kmplayer.com ), but this way you can see an example of what is the exact animation quality.

The shots here are lowered (resolut.) in order to gather at least four of them in one big picture. The actual resolution of the animation is 800x450 (16:9), 24 fps, 1:27min in duration, 33Mb, no sound and/or music yet. Using Bryce Lightning and 2PCs (Althlon X2 4200+, Sempron 2600+) all the frames were rendered in about 14days; other features - DOF present so I could be a little closer to gain a "production" level of appearance (i.e. real-life camera footage), premium Qual 9rpp. All the models were created in Maya and textured in Bryce, some frames were post-worked in PS, the scene setup and the entire animation rigging was within Bryce and later it was compressed using XviD codec ( you can download a codec pack from here http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm , or you can download the KMPlayer I'm using for it has built-in most of the known compressors ). Below are the links to the animation and some instructions if some of you have trouble downloading the L-Gms_XviD.avi . Since my upload is free, do not hit "Stop" or pause in any way the browsing/downloading process, because the Host Rapidshare.de won't give you another d-load try. You'll have to reset your modem to get new IP and only then you'll have the ability to d-load again. Have fun and thanks for watching :)

P.S. "Lache" comes from Cache but instead of the "C" there's an "L" :)

Now this is KEWL! ;-)

It deffinitely has a mucho industrial look. I can't imagine what type of game this is going to be although I can imaging designing a FPS (First Person Shooter) using a severely mechanical landscape like this. I bet you didn't know I was an online FPS junkie. I used to play under names like StirFry, Charbroil and DeadMeat. I was severely addicted to Unreal Tournament for a few years and I invented a high powered coffee beverage to help me stay up all night playing. I called it the Super Mocha Wakeup Call. It's made with 4 tablespoons of instant coffee , 4 tablespoons of Nestle's Quik and 16 ounces of hot water. If that doesn't keep you awake for a few hours I don't know what can. LOL

Just wait until I get a dedicated fiber full speed fiber connection. I think I'll call myself GroundBiff. ;-)

F*cking incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is some very crazy work you did there, lol. I mean all those parts moving, affects, it is simply not bryce. Outstanding. you get 50/5

I ma telling this to people over at blenderartists.org to take a look at.

Also, you should really consider learning rendering, compositing and animating in blender, 14 days of rendering is just a big waist of time.

go here plz: http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

Extraordinary, "richter-esque". Incredible detailed work. Great mechanical design. Who sais Bryce is limitted? Awsome piece of work. I wish you and your mate all success with your game company. Your artwork deserves it. I would be rude to leave this site without giving you a fiver.

The screen shots look most intreguing I must say. Some dark industrial future beckons? An RTS? I'm trying to imagine how these will fit into a game. Sadly my computer is not co-opperating with avi so I can watch any video. It's a mystery to me. I'm sure it used to... another of life great puzzles.

It's been a while Richter. Glad to hear from you. I am having some difficulty viewing the movie but I will solve it tomorrow. Til then it looks excellent. The modeling looks awesome and the lighting and texturing seem to be right on target. Excellent. Very inspiring! 5/5

Merry Christmas, everybody!!!

@ Spektyr - Thanks. The main idea of this animation was to illustrate the "company" logo. I said "serious intentions", yes, though the thing isn't directly related to the game we're making, nor its genre. It is something to pop-up when you run the .exe, watch the short and then enjoy the main application. A game development is not meant for anyone to handle (I'm saying this to myself every time we encounter a problem, so serious that after the third day of "inspect & fix" we are about to quit. But we fix the bugs and move on, 'cause we Love what we Do, we learn alot through the process, and when I and my cellmate see the code compile without errors and all the textures fit on their places... that's Some reward).

@ Gat - Thank you too. I'm happy you liked it. About Blender, 10x for the links. Reading what all the guys have written in the forum (blenderartists.org) I can only say that a given software is only limited by its user. I could've rendered the entire anim within Maya and I could've used HDR/IBL, Final Gather and GI plus Mental ray at the end. I guess the correct question is why didn't I do that. The answer - it is still complicated for me, it's still hard for me to do animation in Maya. There are a lot of features, believe me - alot, that I need to experiment with, see how they work, what are the hidden options behind them that makes those "tick" appropriately. That's why I rendered in Bryce; in Maya I'd only cripple my project of not knowing how to do something. About the Blender software - it's free, it has a modeler, own renderer, it has a whole ton of plug-ins, fur and all, and it even seems to be user-friendly enough, but I have no time right now to start learning it. I have Maya and for me that's more then enough.

@ Horo - Thank you, Horo. "richter-esque", that's something you don't say every day. I'm flattered. Thanks for the comment!

@ David - Thanks! Too bad you couldn't comment on the avi instead of the shots only. If there's anything I can do to assist you in successfull *.avi-run, I'll do it. You should be able to play the anim with Media Player and the compressors installed. Oh, well...

@ Rashad - So.. did you see it :)) ? Thank you for the high remarks, buddy. Happy holydays!!

The download link is no longer available on rapidshare servers. If some of you still has an interest of watching the video, send me a mail or private message in the forum. Thank you!
