Thanks! This was a simple 3 torus setup in a sphere. The results are very satisfying. It has a gleaming Darth Vader like feel. The details in the center are so cool!

Somehow remembers me of a Wankel engine, these rounded triangles :) This is a dark, almost sinister picture. It could be a brooch made of polished black leather, there is some softness to this thing. This is a black and white picture rather than a monochrome one. It is beautiful and fearful at the same time. Good job, man, a fiver is due.

Thanks Horo!

When I first studied this image I got the feeling of a forbidden alien artifact of unspeakable power. Something I find really interesting is that the center starts with a point down rounded triangle with a second point down barely visible within its perimeter then the subsequent triangles in the center reverse to point up. This reverse is actually caused by the bottom of the torus configuration: three toruses tilted 30 degrees along the horizontal at world center and then rotated 120 degrees to each other along the verticle. This arrangement is set within a mirrored sphere with full reflection and no specularity, ambience or diffusion. The pure white sun is center sky and the camera looks straight down into the configuration from just within the top of the sphere. RD=6 and RPP=144 to smooth the fine details. I wish I had a CRT monitor so I can see how well the smoothing worked.

For my next trick I'm doing one of these with 5 toruses, RD=8 and RPP=256. I'm just curious as to how long this will take to render. ;-)

Yes, like something out of a horror film, an alien maw or leather gimp mask warn by a serial killer. Good, but disturbing.

Thanks David. Yeah, the high contrast white on black give it a spooky look for sure.
