Rainbow Dimensions 11C
Description: A few changes. RD=4 and I think it would be better at 3. I'm doing a closeup of this one at RD=3 that should look nicely glossy without being overpowering.

This is again a more "common" one. The black background is nicely fitting and enhances contrast. I'm not overly fond about the very centre. To get the fine lines on the perimeter better, you might to have to render with an even higher rays/px setting.

I'm wondering if the RPP setting is working properly. These were rendered at 64 and yet they take less than 2 hours each. That doesn't seem right. I may test it on one of my other systems for comparison. Perhaps there's a glitch in Windows again.

If there is not shadow casting involved that can certainly cut down the render times significantly. And I would have imagined you did not really need any shadow interaction in these scenes. For me the symetrical ones work best, although I seem to recall you have at least one of your asymetrical pieces in the DAZ gallery. So it certainly is a matter of taste.

Thanks David,

I shut off all shadowing in the materials. I don't want anything blocking the light.

Both of the images DAZ posted were asymmetrical. I take it that they were chosen for their 3D look. I've been submitting these new ones to see if any of them makes it to the galleries. I'm also considering rendering some of my works at Max Res and making them printable at Deviant Art. It will be interesting to see how many people order prints. ;-)
