The HMS Victory model is from DAZ. I bought it for I wanted to analyse other modeler's methods, but I couldn't help myself to render it with my new sea.
Making an ocean that is detailed and flexible enough for close-ups and could stretch to the horizon at the same time is a task I've working on for pretty long time by now. Sea on this image was made simultanously for Bryce and Carrara - both programs handle objects and materials different way, but principles are the same. I've chosen this POV (bird's perspective with horizon visible) because it's IMO most difficult and rare (not pretty). Lighting: sun(slightly yellow), pair of spotlights behind the camera(one yellow other blue) and Horo's "BlueGreyMoon" HDRI - thanks Horo!
Normal AA - and I'm sorry for it now, I wish it was premium..
Sea looks excellent and the colour of blue you have chosen for the sky is highly complimentry to the model. Wave shapes are convincing, perhaps a splash of spray at the prow would not go amiss, this can be done with a lattice for example if you did not want to use postwork. Of the 14 scenes I've rendered featuring this model, 14 of them were lit with Horo's hdr's - says something. Such a complex model really does benifit from the all around lighting provided by a well crafted IBL.

The sea is very convincing. You did an excellent job, it does work from near to far, the foam crowns are beautiful. The prow wave is a bit shallow considering how the sails are filled with the wind and the wake is equally faint. But these are minor quibbles, really. The sky is fitting, too and the model is nicely lit. Thanks for using this almost general purpose hdri which is more the result of pure chance than planning. And yes, the haze setting is very appropriate, too. A fiver is due.

Incredible. Makes me wonder immediately how you did some of this stuff. The water surface, if I might ask how it was done both in mesh modelling and in material assignment. The foam comes from where? Is it part of the material? Anyhow as mentioned earlier, very appropriate choices in lighting.
Boy, that water is really really good. Reminds me of some of the work produced by Nimos in the Daz galleries. 5/5/5!!!

This water surface is really stunning! Haven't seen a better one in Bryce actually. What David says about some spray at the prow will be spot on. Even at the tail of the ship you could add foam trails fading away, some sea-gulls and voila. This ship will be ready for battle.

Just another note: the strings are not fully rendered (broken lines) and to have them fully rendered, you need to go to premium render and use 64 rays or more.

Thanks to all for your comments. Glad that you like my sea - I'm very fond of modeling ships, so having good sea is very important. This one is made with some 120 terrains of three different sizes and resolutions, that I managed to seamlesly put together. Material is typical ABC material, where C channel - (Altitude) controls blending between A (Water) and B (Foam). I think I'll post this material in .mat department. I have a method to make ship's wake,(clipped terrain or polygon mesh) but I didn't use it here - Victory (as all old sailing ships) was unable to create a foamy wake - her max speed was about 8 knots (15 km/h)
