Digital Sculpture
Description: This was a simple render, but object position was difficult. I wanted to show the full geometry of the lower object.
I offer this bit of advice for newbies.
Try a few different angles and positions on your objects before deciding on a final render.
Object placement will effect your lighting and shadows.
I for sure not a pro, but want to share what I learn as I learn it.

You've got some really fabulous materials in this scene. Camera and model positioning are just right. Nice modelling. What program did you use? What are your ultimate plans with this model?

Is it a Bryce-rend or AoI-render? Interesting geometry; I think it would look even better if this faceted model is made of glass or any transparent and high refractive material. You should try it, but leave this earth-like gold sphere as it is. I very much like the triangle pattern ot sphere's bright side. And yes, prehaps the render time will jump a bit.

Bryce Render

This is a Bryce render I have been switching back and forth between AOI and Bryce. I don't think I will choose one over the other, they both have some strengths. I used Topmod for the lower object.
Topmod can be found HERE. I did not keep the models from this render, but rashadcarter1 if you want, I will make another and post it for download.

I have added my email to my post now.

Good materials, interesting model. The reflectiveness of the materials makes it difficult to determine at a glance what kind of lighting was employed. Whatever there was enough light and reflection available to "describe" your model. I know from my own experiments with wings3D that sometimes it is difficult to find a camera angle that does a model justice. You have done well here. Curiously - the ball at first glance looked like the world.

I agree with the above comments that the ball looks like part of the world. A somewhat distorded Europe. The lower object could do with some reflection along the lines richter suggested. I wonder how this would look if the interesting lower object were smoothed and reflected the light of an appropriate light probe used as reflection map. What ever, this is a very interesting picture with pleasing colours.
