Cyber City

Cyber City
Description: The terrain was elaborately assembled from a picture made with the old CityGenerator and a huge terrain was tiled. The two AH-9100 (material changed) and the XK-119 Bug are DAZ Bryce objects. I added three MH60 Black Hawk choppers (material changed) to give a clue of size (can you find them?). The town got David's Infinite City material to be found here on the Mat Exchange. The ground plane got another of David's material (Plastic), though not much of it is seen. The sky is from the library and is in fact also a sky by David, which I slightly adjusted. The scene is lit exclusively by my redbluesun.hdr, made in Bryce some time ago. There are two suns, a yellow and a blue one. The settings used are: Quality 16, Intensity 4, HDRI-Effect 15 and tilted to Y = 83?. Not rendered as background.

It looks awesome. Did you lower the shadow intensity in the sky lab? If so what were the settings? I think I can see light coming up through the ground plane which is good becuase the hdri light seems to wrap around each object very nicely.

The sky chosen is very dark and does not look as though it would be shedding any real light onto the world below it. I could imagine though that there are perhaps street lights that cast the blue

Cool futuristic metropolis! That red and silver craft reminds me of a Skynet Hunter Killer. The sky feels really oppressive. What planet is this supposed to be?

As above I agree. Plus the hdri you chose works very nicely in this scene.

WOW!

Totally kewl! Very nicely done Horo! I think the lighting is excellent! Wow! Only one question. Why don't the buildings have any lights? Just a thought. I give you a 5 for sure. Great work!

The bump materials respond well to the lighting, but I think the overall complexity of the image is a little dazzling and that perhaps a bit of haze or floating fog might increase the impact of the 3D city blocks and associated aircraft by giving them something bland to be contrated agaist. Lighting is good and I have no issues with the colour choices, just that in terms of pattern, there seems to be too much happening and it is making it difficult to see what is going on within the scene.

Thanks for your comments. The ground plane is set to cast no shadows and the shadows are set to 60%. I have no name for this world, but it does have two almost opposing suns - a white (blueish) dwarf and a red giant. The buildings have no windows, the cybernauts living and doing whatever mischief their up to hidden from us. I do agree with David that this picture is a bit "busy". The darkness of the sky is a bit of an impossibility - I prefered the contrast and the mood over a brighter one.
