Shattered: An Asymmetrical Abstract Animation

Shattered: An Asymmetrical Abstract Animation
Description: This was inspired by Horo and Gat (Thanks Guys!) when they suggested I add camera rotation to that last animation I posted. When I considered this idea I thought "Nah! Not interesting enough." so I added rotation to something else, the mirror box segments. I also repositioned the lights, added some diffusion and eliminated the target sphere. The result is what looks like a chaotic and psychedelic storm of broken mirror shards so I've chosen the title "Shattered". There are spots where it looks like I edited it because the view suddenly changes but that's just the way it turned out. I hope you all enjoy it. ;-)

OOOOOOH!

Awe! Wow! This one is very, very nice! It looks like the insides of a diamond. Beautiful Spektyr! I really love this piece. You get an A for today : )

its cool how the triangles move around, but the flashing is too much for the eyes its hard to look at it, plus every time it flashes the nice movement of the shards gets lost. I like this new set up, but it could be improved. If I remember right you wanted to make something like a kaleidoscope, this could be it, if only you could get the pieces to turn nicely, some in one direction and some in the other. This was a good attempt and I see where you were trying to go with it, but I think the objects went through the camera a couple of times and thats what cause that, either that or the camera faces some flat sides.

Thank you both!

Tina-
You really know how to flatter a guy! ;-)

Gat-
I know what you mean. The way I set the rotations causes the flat faces to momentarily block the camera. It causes undesirable interruptions in the flow of motion.

I'm doing another new one right now with a moving Metaball mirror box which I'm confident will result in a more fluid morphing from symmetrical to asymmetrical.

I also have other ideas to play with. I want to get better at setting up multiple moving objects before I try to tackle that new 'Dance of the Spheres' animation I'm planning. That one is going to be extremely difficult to set up but when I get it right it will be a true masterpiece, a ballet of motion and color I'll be proud to submit to Animationtrip.com. I'm definitely going to need some major league equipment to render that or it will literally take months.

Ah, a new one. I had more the impression of space debries flying around and what gat noticed - and you acknowledged - the objects hitting the camera are unsettling. The other movie with a rotating camera would have been quieter. But you've tried something new and this is great, too. We ought to progress. It's not a 5/5 from me, but I'm collecting your movie stuff - ahm sorry, artwork.

Thanks Horo!

I had an interesting idea involving changes to one of the old Rainbow Dimensions animations that would fit right in with the rotation you've requested and bring a whole new look to it. I'll start playing with it as soon as this current render with the metaball mirror box is done.

This current render should be really interesting and much more pleasing to the eye. ;-)

Metaballs take longer. There's still 52 frames left. I'll have it posted as soon as it's done.

Tina-

That's from my old chat room days in the early 90s. It's one of the ways we used to say 'Giving you a BIG HUG!' ;-)

Spektyr, just when I thought you had explored every corner of this theme you pull this one out. This one is by far my favorite of ALL of these entries. Something about the prismatic look witht eh indication of crystals that makes profound sense to me and looks awesome as al heck! Great work once again!!!!!

Thank you Rashad!

And a word of advice, never underestimate a mad genius. LOL ;-)

I may rework this one or do a new one with a similar look. The jumps and flashes in this one sort of ruin it a bit. When I'll get to it is the question. The way my mind works I'll be off in a whole new direction before you know it. ;-)
