Rainbow Dimensions Version 6c
Description: Ok. This is the las still image for now. I'm going to do an animation of this setup with the camera sweeping down through the construct from top to bottom. I anticipate a very visually impressive sequence judging from the three images I've already taken from it. The format will be Divx AVI at 400x400 30fps for a smooth progression. It should be ready by sometime tomorrow. :-)

Thank you again, Tina!

These actually don't take me long to produce. Once I have a setup done it's a matter of making changes and selecting an image I like. The final renders take about 30 minutes networked across 3 systems. I'm going to write you up the instructions this weekend with a sample file you can play with. Let me know when your system is back up. Hope it's soon. I can imagine how frustrated you must be with it down.

Wait until you see the animation I'm going to do with this one. You'll need the Divx codec for it. I'll help me shrink the file to a resonable size for download. I'll post a link to where you can get it.

DivX is a great codec, it compresses files down by a lot without loss of quality, more people should be using it. Thats a great choice Spectyr.

Now, the image itself is awesome, the haze variation really makes things stand out, and geometry has a good flow without too much repeatability, like I said before I like order within chaos (or something like that). I think this one is now my favorite one, I can't wait to see the animation of this it must look crazy, through I am a bit concerned about how it will turn out considering the complexity of this render, it might flicker as colors and shapes jump from one to another, have you checked that out ?

Gat-

Thank you for the compliments!

Yes, Divx is good but I'd like to run a comparison with Xvid sometime.

No, I haven't done the render on the animation yet. I'm planning to do a 30 second duration and I'm expecting a smooth morphing pattern as the camera makes its pass through the construct. I don't think it will be too chaotic if at all. I had to take care of a few things so I'll set it up and have it render overnight. It should be done some time tomorrow.

Another great one. There's a lot of complexity going on in the centre - within each "leaf" of the "clover". I like how the centre is brighter and how the light fades towards the perimeter.

Update on the animation

First, thank you for the kudos Horo. :-)

The original plan was for a 30 second animation at 400x400. It was going much slower than I'd anticipated and probably would have taken more than 48 hours to render all 901 frames. I didn't want to keep you all waiting that long - and I didn't want to wait that long myself ;-) - so I've downsized it to 300x300 and shortened the duration to 15 seconds. This one should be ready later today. I'll post it as soon as I have it uploaded to RapidShare.com.

Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

As you probably already know I've been trying very hard to be a very nice boy this year. I've been sharing my creativity with a bunch of really nice folks - check your list, they deserve great presents this year too ;-). The gifts I'm asking for this year are more for them than they are for me since they will help me share much more of my creativity in a shorter time so I'm not just thinking of myself here. Keeping this in mind here is what I want for Christmas this year:

1 Dell PowerEdge 1955 Blade center with 10 dual quad-core Intel Xeon 5300 3.0 Ghz 1333 FSB server blades with 32GB ram and 100GB hard drive each. (Render Farm)

1 Alienware Area 51 ALX Core?2 Extreme Overclocked to 3.33 Ghz with Dual-Zone Liquid Cooling, Dual NVIDIA? 8800 Ultra + SLI?, 2GB Low Latency DDR2 Memory, Dual 10,000 rpm Hard Drives and a Blu-ray 1080p Optical Drive. (Graphics Workstation)

2 Apple M9179LL/A 30" LCD Cinema Displays

And a dedicated full speed fully transparent 1550 fiberoptic internet connection.

This is all I'm asking for. It's not that much, not for a guy like you, is it? Remember that this is mostly for my adoring fans. Wouldn't it be worth the price of this stuff to allow me to further enrich their lives with the overflowing fountain of creativity I now feel within me? Think about it, Ok? It would be a really nice thing to do for some really good people. ;-)

Sincerely,
Spek

PS. A copy of Carrara 6 Pro would be nice too. ;-)

Thanks Tina!

Wait until you see the credits for the final animation. I'll be posting them in the description. I think they might have you laughing nonstop for a week. ;-)
