The Dreamworld (Remake)
Description: Much improved. I sort of took a back step on the bottle a little though (I think I modeled it in Bryce with no minus booleans so it's not hollow - oops!). The rest is much improved though. The tree is two of the same tree but changing the leaves on the duplicated one. Grass made in Bantam 3D grass with the hill bump used to control its growth height. Of course nowadays I'd have used C6. It's interesting to note my progress as an artist however. That's the goal - and that's what impresses me about others is when they improve. BTW the original was made in B4, this one in B5.

Much improved as you know. What I like is that you have stayed more or less true to the original concept. The grass looks good generally. If only grass from C6 would be exported into bryce. The poem written inside the bottle is a nice touch and gives the scene a sense of peace. I would have liked the sun rays to be softer on the edges, as now they appear almost like a solid. The mountains in the background look awesome! It is a well known fact that I take a huge amount of issue with the bryce sky presets, especially the default one. In my world the sky is much less purple and alot more blue/green. In the scene above the hue would look more natural with a bit less red and a bit more green mixed with the blue, also the saturation is too much creating a cartoon sky feel. In the scene I rendered "Canada Sky" you will see my latest attempt at reproducing the sky color I see every day. The haze is set oddly in the scene but the sky color itself was pondered greatly and to me does not look overly purple or overly green, just enough blue at just the right saturation level. The bottle by the way seems to be solid and not hollow.

The thing I also notice is that the scene composition is very good, in that everything makes sense and nothing looks out of place. I myself had no freakin' clue how to copmpose an image until many years of working in 3d!

Technique improved greatly. In the first version, reading the text in the bottle is very difficult, here it is clear.

It Is a nice poem, no doubt. Yes, it is difficult to compose a scenery image within bryce without having a ton of thoughts, well tested light (sky) presets and reliable materials to get your work close to a photorealistic image. As a whole I like the idea and the way objects are arranged in scene.
Now, there are few things I'd like to point out. Rashad already mentioned the sky here, and I agree with him. Also the sun-rays in the middle, those have to be more transparent and softer. There's a noticable contrast between the water and the dakrness of the grass used. Does the water have an ambient channel? Also the POV somehow disturbs the scalling of the image, making the bottle to look amost as big as the small island. This is easily corrected by using a proper DOF, but I guess you wanted everything behind the bottle to be clearly seen, even the poem. A bottle filled with air and floating, should be about half (40%~50%) submerged in the water. This way you'll loose some of the text, but things will look more the way they had to be. As much as I like the beautiful refraction inside the bottle I too think is more of a solid glass than hollow. I'm not sure if you wanted to go as realistic as possible, my comment is based on that (realism- ) thesis however. Seeing the date the pic is made, I think you can still improve that good work of yours. The first version's date: 1/03, the second: 9/05, and after two more years I believe you can nail it down with a new one, the very best one (if you're up to it). If it was not the realism you was looking for, don't mention my cristicism, if it is, I'll have to give you 4/5.
