Greek Ruin Test
Description: Thus named after the DAZ model. The ivy grower program is quite impressive! Indeed it was because of an inquiry to David B. about it that I originally found this site.

Anyway this was made a few months ago in C5 standard. I did not import the original model into the ivy grower - I think you know why. So I created the basic shape in C5 out of prims. No holes in the mesh when you use prims and the ivy grows much faster of course. I'm not totally jazzed on the lighting (2 distant lights, one of which is the sun and indirect lighting used). Also I could tweak the default tree leaves mat. This file is large and thus slow to work with. It'd be a shame to abondon it though.

Very naturalistic feeling in complexity. The ivy generator is a brilliant program and adds a very nice sense of complex foliage to any scene. The only quibble I have is with the color of the sky...seems too close to purple and not enough blue/green. The mat on the Carrara trees is too high in color saturation to look real. I am too new to Carrara to make any real suggestions about the lighting, but I think that photon mapping would do a really good job of bringing out the details in the shaded areas, since transparency in the foliage is not possible at least for the ivy. It is possible but not very easy and probably is forever to render, who knows. Don't abandon this scene. With just a few changes it could look stunningly real!

great use of vegetation, I think that using sky light instead of GI might have worked better.

The thick ivy carpet on the ground looks very natural. I have less quibbles about the sky colour but the green of the leaves really hurt the eye.
