Birds in flight
Description: Using Horo's living-night1_amx9-corr-wb.hdr to provide a background (and a source of believeable reflections) - but no light. Light is provided by 72 single point light sources arranged in two rings over the "birds", to give an "intimate" light. The desk material is a captured image of my desk. As is the coaster - just another captured image mapped onto a clynder. The glasses, seen before, made in wings3d. The "birds" also were made in wings3d. The challenge here being the opposite of real life origarmi where the aim is to get perfect folds, in wings I spent a lot of time inperfecting the model. There is, I confess, some ambient in the material applied to the paper birds, this was to simulate paper transparency - well, translucency - I did try real transparency, but I wasn't entirely happy with the results. Postwork, PSP8, softening the top left hand corner of the image and the text.

Bravo, David! This one looks fantastic, I mean really. "Imperfecting" the origami birds payed off quite well. The coaster looks used and also very realistic. I really like the bird's paper material opposed to the desk texture. Horo's living night helps to evolve the final impression further. Love those scattered reflections on the desk and especially how the refracting glasses distort the coaster's edge. The softening was the needed detail for completion. Pure 5/5!

Looks awesome. Hey ambient is not so bad when it is used appropriately as it is here. It looks like the setting was very low and hardly noticeable anyhow, there is no stand-out "glow," so we are okay. Excellent modelling. Nice to see you still have time for bryce renders.

In my experience having 72 point light sources in a scene would mean multiple days of rendering. How long was the render? 5/5

Beautiful, colours fit perfectly. Excellent models. You've certainly mastered Wings3D and no mistake. Using the hdri as reflection map turned out very good. Everything looks convincing. 5/5.

I can't even imagine modeling origami in Wings- but here you've pulled it off perfectly. A tutorial, maybe, or an x-change model?

The photo desk looks nice with the hdri- very real.

Spectacularly done, and a 5/5.
