Matrix 1
Description: Here's one for you monochrome fans. I tweeked the contrast to bring out the dimensionality more. It's a good example of recursion. ;-)

Brilliant. One of my favorites from you. I would be completely lost as to how to make something like this. Excellent!!! Somehow it strikes me as quite realistic.

.

it looks like that movie where people were running from cube to cube.

this render is the only one where I can spot the mirror box that you made.

hmm, gat has a point about the mirror box. There are no colors to confuse the eye about the light direction. The outer edges are darker than the center giving away the position of the original light. Sensing the box may be why this one felt more real to me, it has a clear sens of place associated with it.

I think that this one could be improved by making an actual 3D object of the wire frame and then placing it inside a mirrored box.

Rashad-
Thank you! It's actually not that hard to do however this one took some time to set up because I had to make it big to keep from pushing the Ray Depth too high. There are 1728 bars (Cylinders) in a 24x24x24 matrix within a cubical mirror box. The camera is at World Center just inside the top of the box looking straight down and the sun is slightly off center towards a corner. The bars have a standard glass mat with Diffusion=5 and Speculatity=30. The mirror box is straight reflection with no diff., amb. or spec. The RD was set to 6. It took a few hours to render.

Gat-
I saw that one. It was totally pointless. Sort of like Life.

As for the mirror box, I did all I could to hide that since I was using the sun for illumination but I couldn't go too far. Remember that you are looking past 24 rows and collumns before you hit the mirror box. I can barely make out where the reflections start. I did my best but if you're not satisfied then purhaps you should have me executed. I won't mind really. You'd just be doing me a favor.

Now I'm getting bored with sulking. I can't win for loosing.

hmm yeah the movie sucked it made me depressed.

I guess I was wrong about the mirrored box thing I thought it was a cube with tubes around the edges, because of the reflections on the floor and ceiling as well as sides. don't get me wrong this looks good, but I thought that it would improve the geometry of the matrix.

You can't take me seriously all the time. If you backtrack my responses on the last few posts you'll see that I was just playing the roll. I'd seriously love to buy that new Carrara 6 Pro but I have to wait a while and save up the money. It's not a problem. I'm just being silly. My inner child never quits. ;-)

And it can be easy to be fooled by images like this. Reflections can do that a lot. LOL I'm getting ready to post a variation of this design in red with thinner metalic bars. The thinner bars changes things a lot as you'll see. ;-)

Reminds me of my very old Sterile (http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=668&mode=search), however, I made only 1 cube, the rest is mirrors.

It appears that there is some haze making up the horizon. Good work anyway. Good idea to go for monochrome.

Great job Spektyr

I like this one alot. I do love your colored ones though. This one shows just how versatile your works are. Are you still sulking? You are a character : ) . Your last few comments made me laugh out loud. Thanx I needed it. As always you get my vote on this one.

Thank you Tina!

And no, I got tired of sulking. It's mucho boring. I was considering a switchover to ranting and raving but that may bring the brain police after me. I think I'll just relax for a while and let my mind go blank......I guess that's not possible, is it? I have an exceptionally large mind. I really can't fathom it all going completely blank. I guess I'll have to settle for a percentage. I'll start with 50% blank. That may be doable. ;-)

Sterile

Horo-

Is that Visible Source lighting or specularity on the mirrors creating those bright spots?

The monochrome effect reminds me of those pictures made by scratching through a layer of black paint to reveal foil. Either that or an M.C.Escher high quality pencil drawing. Whatever, the effect is very good. 5/5

Your question answered, spektyr

Sorry for being late, I had to dig out that one to check. Well, the bright spots (the square ones) are from a material out of the library with ambiance. Four radials make the blurred bright lights. The mirror box is 100% reflecting and 15% transparent.
