Did you get totally antialiased here? It lookes a little choppy on the edges still. Good composition though. In the IBL tab, try raising the "Quality" setting to 500+. It will make the shadows look softer, and the lighting will be more even.

try rotating the HDRI, or using another one, this one is not doing a very good job.

Nice picture. The HDRI appears to have a strong light source in front of and at left behind the camera, both rather high up. I can't give any recommendations because I do not know what you were up to. But if you want to light up the dark shadows, you will have to use an HDRI with less prominent light sources. However, I like it the way it is.

IBL can become your new best friend, and it probably will. The scene above looks great. You did not use the ambient channel to lighten the shadows, a very good thing. Ambient does not work well at all in my opinion. With ibl, you will find that discovering the "correct" ibl for the situation is very challenging sometimes. As Horo mentioned, the hdri has two bright spots, meaning it is most likely an indoor image based hdri. To lighten the shadows there are a couple of options:

1. Go to the sky lab and change the shadow intensity to about 75% instead of the default 90%. This is as Horo has mentioned like a main shadow switch. This is a very powerful tool that affects everything in the scene of course. This will probably fix the problem. It is much better than adding ambient that makes everything glow. You don't want a glow, just a less intense shadow. It will allow light from the hdri to come up from below the ground plane and fill in the shadows just enough.
2. Test out other hdri's to see if you can find one that fits your needs, one with more even brightness instead of just two bright spots. I would download Horo's moonbluegrey.hdri's from his site. Moonbluegrey is an amzing and true hdri that will give very convincing light from all directions. If you;re going to experiment, do so with the best the world has to offer.

I forgot to mention how great the texturing is. Ibl does not stimulate specualrity so you will need to add more reflection to the tiles to get the effect I think you are after.

Yes, you've done a good job with the tiles, the brickwork is perhaps a tad course. You've already had some good advice about using IBL, but on the point of IBL not stimulating the specularity - there is nothing to say that a standard light source can't be placed in the scene also just to do that job for you. Reflection does push up the render time and it is not always an ideal subsitute for specularity.
