Hall Anker
Hall Anker

Hall Anker
Description: Modeled in wings 3D. Lit with Horo moonbluegrey.hdr and bryce sun. IBL quality 128. Premium effects soft shadows and blurred reflection. Materials set to between 18 - 25 reflective with speculative halo (blur effect control) set to about 200. Ray depth 12. Other than what is visible, a transparent blue (25 transperency) was set to tint both the transmissive light arriving from the probe and the reflected light. The moon probe was rendered as a background to provide secondary lighting in the form of the blurred reflected light. Finally the sun was set to generate soft shadows also and the ambience shadow level was set to 80 meaning 20% of the hdr light and sun light was allowed to "bleed" into the shadow regions to supliment the reflected light from the probe background. So... am I happy with the results... well... it took about 5 hours to render - so, um... yeah.

Very nice David. I especially like the lighting. What material did you use for the anchor? It looks very real. 5 hours 5 rating : )

Shading is really nice, it screams metal, blurry reflections really helped that feeling too. Nice model as well. Maybe render another version with rust and cracks?
5/5

The model is awesome. The lighting extraordinary. Very 3D-ish feel. The only quibble is, that we have no clue about its size. But the heck with it. 5/5 and I don't want to argue about that.

I'm the fourth here, to give you a fiver for that. Very good model, very good lighting! The rust and the cracks are the first thing that crossed my mind when I looked at the Anker, though just a little slime could do the trick :) Aside of that, I like this work very much, especially the small rivets/screws (not sure about the exact name).
