I feel that there is something amiss with the haze field in that I see aline of some sort spanning across the picture. The dof did not spoil the image for me. The white tips are nice and are more or les enough. You could probaly produce the snow covering by duplicating the trees and using white snow for leaves, you know in layers, the white treee just slightly on top of the green tree to create the "snow covered" impression. For me this image is looking alot like a real photograph! Bravo Excellent aside from the line in the haze field!

Hey rashadcarter, thanks for the comment I am glad you like it more then me :)
Unfortunately I can't duplicate the trees and raise them slightly higher, because I will have to turn them into objects, which means it will require a huge amount or RAM that I don't have.
The line in the haze is actually from me trying to fix the line from the 4D cloud that I used (which was a waist of time because its not working once you scale it up). I will be re rendering this but without SkyDome and hopefully that will result in a faster render.

Apart from that flaw in the centre, this looks the most natural of the series for me. DOF is discete enough and the picture actually profits from it.

I don't know I don't think this lighting is doing it any good either, it just doesn't look natural to me, its as if it was made miniature and then taken a photo of.

I see what you mean, gat. However, I think DOF is so discrete, it almost works like haze. Haze gives the impression of distance, DOF miniaturises. Your scene may look right and it may look like a model railway landscape. At least for me, it depends how I look at it, what I expect. This modifies my impression. Very ambivalent for me now since you mention it.

The DOF is an interesting effect, but for me it is making the scene look like a small model. The lighting seems good and I like the haze (even if it has produced an odd line in the middle). I think this is the best version so far.
