Alloys
Description: Modeled in wings3D and based loosely on 17" Kei Racing RSS Alloy Wheels. Lit with Horo's moonbluegrey.hdr (128 lights) and a single radial light casting soft shadows. Because of an issue in Bryce which means no large models can be loaded in 3ds format I had to resort to useing obj and DAZ studio to import. Which only "kinda" worked. The black marks on the wheels seem to have been the result of this - I don't know what they are and they won't go away. So I'm open to suggestions.

I like the black marks. They make the hubcaps look used/dirty/rusty. Add some more car parts. Also, instead of using a radial, download Horo's moonbluegrey with white sun and try that out. Speaking from experience here, it looks pretty good. :)

The DAZ forums go on and on about that flaw of Bryce to import 3ds properly and D|S failing to bring it over to Bryce correctly. If you stioll have a 5.01 or 5.5 installed, try to get your objects that way to 6.1. Though the black marks look really good.

Otherwise, very nice. I like the shadows on the wall very much. Look very natural, nearer objects cast sharper, those farther away softer shadows. And the model is excellent, of course.

Looks good. The material needs some specularity which should be possible since you used a radial. This is an indoor scene with no windows showing us the outdoors so I'm not sure if the bright sun hdri is what he needs here. It would have to be at a very high quality to soften the shadows as much as the radial is softened here. When using just one soft shadows light source a scene can still render very quickly. With more than one though the calculation time becomes massive. I think the single radial was the right choice for this indoor scene. But I'd that perhaps David will want to keep the new hdri in mind for his next outdoor scene.

This may not be the place to ask this of yo Horo, but I wonder if you might entertain just one more request from me? Is it possible to produce just one more version of this hdri, but instead of a pure white sun, install a sun that's a bit "warmer" with a tint of red (pink) or light yellow. Natural sunlight is not pure white in nature so I think that with just a slight addition of tint the "sun" would be perfectly believable in renders. It would make a profound difference.

Rashad, when downloading the *.zip from Horo's website, the folder contains two HDRIs, one with a white sun, and one with a yellowish sun. In the preview, one has a "W", and one has a "Y".

Aha! I have not yet downloaded it so it is nice to know that Horo has noticed this need for tinted sunlight. Horo, always one step ahead.

Hey Rashad - there are a few things I've learned from you and one of those is the yellow sun. Perhaps I'll try a reddish-orange one, too, for sunset purposes.
