Metro MKIII
Description: The moment we've all been waiting for! Drum roll please... Due to the helpful suggestions and advice from rashad, Horo, and the many others who contributed to this image, I have finally come up with the finished product (I hope). Rendered with Horo's moonbluegrey + white sun, at these settings:

Lights: 256
Intensity: 4
HDR Effect: 6
Falloff: None

It rendered in close to 51/2 hours, and this image has no postwork. Again thanks for all your help, I've learned many new things. That's the way art works huh, always learning.

Whoa, correction. That's 5 and 1/2 hours. Not 51/2 hours. Haha.

The strong sunlight is very nice to see. Thanks for utilizing the advice. The only suggestion further I might make is to take full advantage of the hdri by turning the sun around to the opposite side, so that the scene becomes backlit. This will give us some strong light on the tops of buildings yet leave the sides in the lovely shadowyness we've come to love from Horo's moonbluegrey.hdri. Also, reconsider the haze, in that I think that less haze will work well here since we are not really all that high up. There are not miles and miles of air in between the buildings and the viewer.
I think you will come to find this new hdri with a bright spot to be extremely useful and an all in one sort of answer to outdoor lighting. I look forward to seeing more renders lit with this new hdri.

Undisputedly the best in the series. There are shadows now which make it more 3D-ish. What Rashad suggests sounds interesting. I'm not sure it would turn out better but with that swift render time, it would certainly be worth a try. You got my 5/5 for this in any case.

What gat suggests had crossed my mind at an earlier incarnation of this work. I think, however, that the picture would not profit from this because we do not see down to the streets and any vehicle or figure would mess up with the scale.

I'm very glad that fake light-probe did turn out useful. Thanks rashad for the suggestion and icecreamman for utilising it. It means a lot to me because that is the way I learn.

An interesting suggestion rashad. I think I will leave the lighting as is, but your haze suggestion I will take into consideration. As far as cars/people/zombies :), I tried to put in some Star Wars Coruscant style air traffic, but I wasn't happy with the results. So I just left it.

The hdr certainly provies an uncanny level of 3Dishness. I too would like to see Rashads suggestion implimented. 5 and half hours does not see too long to wait, and probably it would be possible to get away with less lights. If there were a Desert Island Lightprobes selection, then I would be putting Horo's bluegreymoon at the top of my list.

I already mentioned what I'm about to say on David's new image but I will mentin it here because it fits here and Horo may not read my other entry.

This addition of a bright sun is a huge step forward toward making this hdri the place to go for outdoor scenes of all kinds. As I look up at this scene I can see only one thing "wrong"...the sun looks like it is pure white. Natural sunlight is not pure white. In the hdri I used for Cement Jungle 3 and 4 the sun has a slightly red/pinkish tint. The jpeg blue sky with sun clearly demonstrates this. It makes a pretty cool hdri If I might say so myself, and the sunlight it gives is tinted just enough to feel of natural sunlight. Horo, might you be willing to produce just one more version of this hdri, but this time with a tinted sunlight? I think you will agree that it looks even more natural than the white sun.

Icecreamman has informed me that the tinted sun version already exits, so please disregard my request. Thanks Horo. Thanks Icecreamman.

Most has been said here. Impressive work, Icecreamman. Trying not to repeat someone's comment I'll just say that the POV is beautiful and this version without the depth of field looks a lot more real then one would expect. A really fine piece. Surely deserves 5/5!
