Nebula Prime preview
Description: A lot of space stuff going on on this site lately, so I decided to contribute to the "cause". What you see here is just a Texture Preview, created in Apophysis and rendered in Bryce with colored halo stars. The Nebula Prime tex is *.png file 2048x2048 and exported out of Bryce - resulted in 22,4Mb *.mat file. Too large to upload here. So I had to lower the res to 1024x1024 and zip it. You can download this 1024x *.png file here. The size is 2,8Mb and I think it's acceptable.

I know you'll figure out how use this one, but I'll write a quick how-to about Nebula Prime anyway: For maximum effect it is recommended that you use this texture in dark or space scenes. Click on the "Da Vinci" icon in Bryce and import the unzipped NPrime as a texture. Once you hit ok there's a couple of things you can do to increase the nebula glow effect. Place a radial light on the backside with fair amount of intensity (i.e. 100) and start decreasing the transparency of the NP tex in the material editor. If you set it lower than 20, on the sides of the texture, visible edges will appear. So balance between 100 and 20 for the transparency value. Use freely and have fun. If someone wants the original 2048x, I'll mail him/her that file.

Looks good! I've downloaded it. Thanks. Pity bryce can't use ldr for lighting as well as hdr. This could then be used to light space scenes.

You can easily turn this ldr into an hdr and use it anyway for space scenes.

Thanks! Hopefully this one would be of help. It's not a fancy volumetrix or something, but it's easy to use and don't slowdown the rendertime at all.

Thanks richter, I'm looking forward to experiment with this. The nebula looks plausible and really nice.

David - to convert a LDRI to an HDRI and possibly boost up the brighter parts does not ask for a professorship. Even I can do it.
