Moonbeast
Description: Hi guys! Long time no see. In the past few months I was working on a strange animal which has to do a lot with both lions and wolves, but it is not either one of those. An interesting breed. The concept of the Moonbeast is from a game I played almost 2 years ago. That fantasy animal had caught.. no, "possessed" is the accurate word, my attention and I finaly menaged to recreate it. This was my longest project so far and I did my best :) I really hope you'll like the Beast.
Modeling, rigging, UVs and pretty much everything you can think of done in Maya7.0 The textures were hand-painted in photoshop (the Longest part of the proj). Finaly rendered with mental Ray.

P.S. During my improvised breaks (I'm not funny anymore I know) I also "finished" with my website. You're welcome to have a look http://core-st.hit.bg Oh, it's been a long time!

Well richter, I thought you were up to something special when I didn't see you here for a while. The beast is indeed unprecedented. Pose and environment it is put in are outstanding. Thanks for the the link to your site - definitely an artists web presence.

Looks like an escapee from a genetic research lab. I wouldn't want to run into this.......thing when it's hungry. YIKES!

The creature is very realistic and believable. The whole scene is very well done and although the haze makes it look kind of dreamy it is realistic.

Very good job, Richter, and glad to see you back! :-)

This probably sounds a little out of place, but your grass is amazing! I mean yes the model is good enough to sell, but wow that grass is phenomenal!

Great job on everything. Do some more scenes with your Moonbeast. I really like it.

Wow!

Very awsome work! The details are impressive. The creature is very scarey! I love the way you did the grass. Overall 5/5.

Increadible piece, can't really fault it on any grounds. The fur and grass is amazing, I dread to think how long that took to model! The monster is very convincing also - and quite horrible. Excellent. 5/5

Thank you all! I'm happy you liked my "pet".
David, though the modeling might seem long, as I mentioned, I felt the texturing took an eternity. This proj wouldn't normally have taken so long to complete, but the thing is that I was learning by doing.. from scratch.
Icecreamman, I paid attention to everything in scene, especially the grass. In Maya this is called Paint Effects. You can paint over surfaces freely, but the tricky part comes when adjusting a couple of options. There's a transparency channel which lets me control the thickness of the grass. So I made it thinner by setting the grass-strokes transparent by the edges.
