Description:	The black oak was made in Arbaro, trunks, branches and twigs got a material from the presets, the leaves got Rashads transparent leaf material with only the colour changed. Background and light from my photographic Ermitage light probe. I forgot to move the rucksack with all the gear necessary to get the raw material for a 4 steradian HDRI below the tripod when I moved the camera around the mirror ball. Of course, I only noticed when I was back home. Now I capitalise on it. Took 15 hours to render on my dual core machine.

I like this Horo. I have fiddled with DOF but have'nt posted anything with it yet. I'm still not skilled at it yet. It looks true to form. I am a big tree fan. Love em!

I see you are really getting the hang of that program, the tree looks really great, if you look just at the top part of the image with a 1024x800 resolution screen it looks so realistic you cannot say it is fake.

tina- this is not do I don't think the back image is an HDRI.

i like the tree but the back found should have been a little clear i like the top left if the pic the best deffenlt look like a real pic form their

Very impressive image. Seems very realistic. I like the color change you applied to the leaves, it seems you may have lowered the saturation and moved the hue a bit also. The combined effect is excellent. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen the leaf transparency look more real than it does here. The added penetration of the light is very authentic. I wish I had the processing power to take advantage of ibl and foliage transparency. Together the result is very good. Who said that only Vue could do realistic foliage?

Question, what were your ibl settings?

- Tina & Gwydion: No DOF here. The HDRI diameter is 1280 pixels and it is at least 5 times too small for a sharp background. Bryce 6.1 does not yet produce very good backgrounds from light probes (linear tone-mapping) and it can only handle diameters up to around 6'500 pixels and if you use such a one, you'll have to wait many long minutes each time you access the Sky lab. It's just not yet practical. Besides, my DSLR camera has a 2000 pixel limit and the mirror ball is not flawless. Without rendering the HDRI as background, IBL is a real smash!

- Gat, the only thing to complain about are the missing veins on the leaves and the form is not that of an oak. Nevertheless, Arbaro is an excellent program. The tree has a 26.5 MB footprint.

- Rashad, for the leaves, Diffusion is 100 and Specularity 57.6, those are your values. The colours are (R/G/B): top=126/122/62, centre=81/85/41 and bottom=81/55/32. IBL settings: 16 lights, intensity 20, effect 40 and linear radius 500.

The foliage really makes this a slow render affair. My old single core 1.6 GHz machine grinded for a 540 x 405 picture 12 hours.

The hdr is producing a very good background, and I know how difficult that is to achieve! Well done. My main contention with this image is that the clues from the baground make me feel I should be looking up slightly at the tree if it were full grown and yet somehow I'm looking down on it which makes it feel small... or out of scale. Other than that minor quibble which could be as much me as the image. Excellent.
