Stargate - Underwater Scene
Description: Well, other then a few minor adjustments I needed to make after rendering this image, I ended up fixing a couple of them in GIMP.
So, here is the updated/outdated version of Stargate.

I decided to make a small series of stargates, each in a different climate/place. This will be the first one. I learned a lot while making it thanks to your comments. Bryce has a really strange way of interaction of objects in a scene that the manual dose not cover directly.
thanks and enjoy

Best so far. The underwater feel is great though the water surface may need some attention. There is a sort of banding occurring and I don't know why.

Have you considered doing one where the only real light source is from the stargat itself insteads of the sun? Also, wehy is the gate floating. If we are in an underwater ruin, the stargate still needs a physical base or footing, it cannot float. TYhe idea of placing the gate underwater is very cool and very gat. Nice work.

thanks for the support, those are some very good points. I didn't think the start gate floating was a problem, but now that I think about it more it is, considering that it doesn't have anything to float by, plus it will add more detail to the scene. I will try to create most of the light source coming from the gate, as it would solve a few problems with lighting that I have.

Being the late-commer, I find everything has been said already. Though I see what Rashad means with the water surface, it is not mandatory that the surface can be seen. It depends how far down the stargate is. And if this is a remanant of Atlantis, it is quite deep down. The colour of the water would suggest that. Then if the light is emanating from the gate, this becomes a really magic/majestic scene. This is the best one, yet IMHO.

You are certainly getting closer with each itteration. Maybe less "yellow" and more blue/green in the light? DOF is working well.
