Feather
Description: Was it not gat who suggested the use of Arbaro for trees? Whoever it was, thanks buddy! I found this predefined tree and used it for a test. Mirror material applied with a fine high frequency bump on the feathers. The floor is 10% transparent and 2% reflective. Lit by my Entrance-West HDRI with 256 lights, intensity 20 and effect at 75 with linear falloff radius 500. Rendered super fine with 64 rays, which was the lowest setting to prevent moir?es on the fine branches. Took about 3 hours for this size.

Excellent! As Gwydion suggests, the "stalk" does not look quite right... but also I will not stop that from giving you full marks. Very impressive model, beautifully rendered.

no problem Horo, I'm glad you found it useful.
I find the composition interesting, I can't really say for sure where everything is located in space. Like everyone said, well done horo.

Nice piece Horo! It is very detailed. Did you say you used a tree? It looks alot like a quill. Anyway I like it alot!

Thanks for your comments. Yes tina, the ?tree? is a quill, that's why I called it feather. Yes, the stalk has too coarse a bump. I should have used the same high frequency one I used on the quill itself.

Great idea of using a high frequency bump and reflectivity for the feathers. Most feather "stalks" are translucent and a pale yellowish color. A stalk should not have very much bump on it. Great job, your composition is wonderful.
