Sunset
Description: I like this image a lot, really enjoyed playing with the sky, but it's missing something. At first I kinda wanted a vulture flying overhead in the top right, but I couldn't find any good free models. I also was considering adding mountians in the background, but I don't want to shut out the golden glow. If you think of anything, let me know. Thanks

It looks like you already got something thats starting to look like god rays. I would work more in that direction for the sky. The trees, are ok, but I would use bryce's instead with no leafs and about 5-6 of them. The ground is looking nice

That sky is interesting. Somehow that bright area reminds me of some movie renditions of a distant nuclear blast, but that's just my imagination playing games. ;-)

The tree strusture looks good but too polygonal, the trunk and limbs have an old CG hexagonal look. If those trees are imported mesh models you could use the Smooth function to round it out.

Good ground texture.

Good start. I see what you mean that something is missing and I understan that you do not want to spoil that gloden glow.

The hexagonal look to the tree is from a radial light I placed to the left of the trees, it makes them look blocky. I think I'm going to take it out. I've been playing around with Thomas Luft's ivy generator, but I can't find a FREE .obj dead tree that I like and that fits with this scene.

The golden glow is excellent. The ground looks good too in an understated way. For the tree, you could always use wing3d to either import and smooth the existing model or make your own in. Wings3d is free from wings3d.com - great little program, very easy to use - really flies even on slower machines.

I'm not sure how I would export the trees... I have only Bryce 5.0, which only lets you export terrains. I don't know if 6.1 lets you export anything or not. I plan on giving the trees an overhaul though. Thanks for the comments!
