Tavern Scene
Description: UV mapped label on the drink bottle. Coins are image maps from a google image search on "doubloon." I had a lot of fun doing this one. Kinda piratey. Arrrgh!

Nice work, maybe use a terrain for the table?

Nicely done. Because of the blurriness of the table in the foreground I wonder how this would look like if rendered with DOF. The rim of the doubloons look very good, the tops I like less. I think some reflection or specularity is missing on them. You might have to bring in a "roof" above the table, out of sight. The playing cards are the most difficult to get right - they look floating a bit.

I'm not to familiar with DOF but I'll try it. I'm not sure what you mean by reflection or specularity being missing on the coins. The texture is very reflective, not sure about specularity though.

Good work with the texture mapping on your objects! The wood looks a little too reflective and I'd have to agree with Horo about the coins. To me maybe they look too reflective, like chocolate coins wrapped in foil. If they are too look like gold, you could try introducing either a very high frequency bump texture to make them "frosted" or set the speculative halo up high and utilise the blurred reflection option in the premium render. If you want to know more about that I would definately suggest a dig in the manual, since it's rather fiddly to set up right. As for the wood of the table, I'd say use the texture image in the alpha channel and use that to control the bump and get rid of the reflection. Excellent mapping though, spot on with the cards, the coins and the bottle lable, well done indeed!
