Factory
Description: This was made using google sketch up, then assembled in blender, and finally rendered and textured in bryce using IBL.

Now that I look at it I wish I made the glass material have sort of cracks, and dirt on it in some places.

Actually this looks more like an apartment building than a factory. That verticle tube looks like some kind of transportation, like a single person gravity lift. Just step onto a floating pad, call out a floor and you are gently raised or lowered to your destination. I think it may have been more practical to increast the diameter of the tube so it would look like a turbo-lift that could accomodate say up to 10 passengers. And those ledges could be made deeper and turned into terraces.

Don't mind me. It's just my imagination having fun with this image. Interesting architecture here. The sky color you chose gives the image a surreal quality. It looks kinda like am image from a dream to me. There's definitely potential in this structure. Use it in a new image and let your imagination help you dress up the scene.

This is funny. It just reminded me of Brazil. "Don't worry kid. We're all in this together." ;-)

This actually started off as a skyscraper, but with the structure and texture and the number of windows it became a factory (or an apartment building). Those tubes were elevators as you have mentioned, but things didn't work out that way with its size, and it would be too much hustle to go back and change it.

Like the composition and in particular the sky colour, somehow gives it a sinister cinematic touch. Interesting model, very nice material choice for the building. Not quite feeling the full IBL effect on this scene, but the lighting is good never the less. Something I feel is missing, maybe what is need is a figure perched on the edge of one of those ledges to add it some drama. A near miss... 4/5

The viewing angle is very dramatic. I see this as an appartment or office building and the "elevator" shaft just as an architectonic column. David is right, a focus is missing. I like the sky. I would like to know more about how you can export from Google Sketch up. When I played with it some timje ago I could only export the rendered picture.

you can export an object from google sketch up and then import it into blender, and then export it from blender as an .obj or a 3ds file. However blender can only import google 3 file formats, so you will have to use the other one to export it from sketch up. You will know what i am talking about once you open up sketch up.

Terrific architechture. The lighting could be improved perhaps by a higher quality setting. The banding is quite obvious. What hdri did you use?

But yep I will need to increase the quality, either that or try to hide the shadows with a sun.
