Huntcliff, Saltburn
Description: Lit at lowest quality setting using the beach_probe.hdr. Three terrains and a infinite plane comprise the setup. This image was inspired by a calander image - which purportes to be of Huntcliff, Saltburn. I confess I don't really know where that is, I just scrounged this calander off of one of my friends because I liked the photos.

Looks a tad humid. I'm getting clammy just looking at it. ;-)

Good stone mat and the clouds look very natural.

5/5

Yes, very very good. I am very curious sbout the haze factor as you often tend to use less haze rather than more. Perhaps the particulr example you were recreating was quite misty. The feeling of moisture in the air is very present. 5/5!

I think Hintcliff is just a bit south of Saltburn-by-the-Sea in North York, U.K. They have a pier there and moving a bit nearer to you, the the sandy beach disappears and what appears in the satellite photograph could be just that cliff. Have a look, it's a good 100 miiles north of your place overlooking the same sea.

Yes, and the picture is beautiful. A late entry in the Contest Replica. I was almost sure the beach probe hdri was used.

Thanks. The Haze, was included (even though it wasn't in the calandar image) to add a greater sense of depth to the scene. Initially I threw a lot of light at the cliff but gained no sense of it's size. Darker it seemed heavier and more brooding, but lacked depth. So I killed all the light and tweaked the haze till that provided an illusion of depth and then carefully turned the IBL up a notch at a time until it began to creep into the darkest shadow regions of the foreground.
