Borg Killer Command Node/Launcher
Borg Killer Command Node/Launcher

Borg Killer Command Node/Launcher
Description: This is one of the many Command Nodes stationed throughout Federation Space. As you can see they carry a compliment of 1 dozen torpedoes each. The sensor dish can scan the entire EM spectrum and instantly detect any type of warp and transwarp engine signature. The detection distance is classified and cannot be listed here but rest assured that it will 'see' an inbound target well before it gets within striking distance.

This node is at alert status and all topedoes are warmed up and ready to go.

I think the only thing that needs more work is the universe, those stars look a tad 50's. By 50's I mean black and white television, the deam imagination about the universe, as you might and should and most likely do know the universe has a lot of nebulas, yellow and red stars, or dwarf stars.
Also, if you feel like it you could place a few lights on thecommand node. Or lazers. :D

I gues the only thing after that would be to make Earth and place a few dozen of them around it, but I am sure you already thought of it and more.

Yea. I'm getting bored with this default starfield in Bryce. No matter how I do it they look flat, fake, dullamundo! I need to figure out a way to create a custom of my own with red and blue stars. Gas clouds and Nebula are doable in Bryce but a truly custom starfield that looks a lot more natural.

As far as this version of the Command Node goes It just serves to give a general idea of its base configuration. I'm dressing it up with Omnidirectional antenna arrays, Telephoto and Wide Angle optical sensors and who knows what else. LOL

My mind is going in so many directions it's a miracle I'm not dizzy. Ealier today, just for the heck of it, I created a basic solar pannel design that I later decided to use on an electromagnetic mass driver satalite or railgun if you prefer. Suddenly my 147 IQ is fully activated and staining at the leash to design all sorts of neat things. LOL

If you run into problems modeling you should try out blender.org. And if some of you reading this I also recomend google sketchup. Also, for the star field one thing that comes up in my mind is using volumetrics, I think that with your IQ you can use the deep texture editor to tweak one of the presets already made into a good enough star field. Hopefully they will upgrade this in future versions.
Or, the easiest way would be just to place a 2D image of an actual photo, but that is up to you if you want it to be 100% Bryce or if it doesn?t matter.

If I get some time I will try to work on a texture of a star field.

At some point you got to decide if you want to go for the technical or artistic/unrealistic direction of your design. But so far it looks really good.

By the way, mind letting me use a few of your IQs I got a physics 212 final soon, like tomorrow :(

"By the way, mind letting me use a few of your IQs I got a physics 212 final soon, like tomorrow :( "

I'd let you borrow them all but somehow I don't think they would give you any real advantage. They didn't prevent me from doing some really dumb things during my almost 50 years on this planet, nor did they earn me straight As in school. They did win me a New York State Regents Scholorship, which I never got to use, only because I wasn't planning to go to college at the time I took that 6 hour monstrosity of a test. I made the Alternate's List right away and later got a hand-me-down scholorship.

As far as I can tell My exceptional IQ score only served to make me feel like I was living in a world full of talking monkeys and had me constantly seeking the answer to the ultimate question of Life, The Universe and Everything. And believe me when I say the answer is definitely NOT 42.

Actually, when I finally face my Creator I want to look IT right in the eyes, if IT has eyes that is, and ask what is for me the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe and Everything.

"So what's your point?"

;-)

By the way, I never knew what my IQ was until recently. It actually came as one hell of a shock. All I could think of when I found out was, "So that's why I've never felt like I fit into this (so called) civilization."

I guess being a genius can be a curse. :-(

I agree fully with all of the previous comments. The starfield is lacking in color variation and randomness. If I were you I would consult a few actual outer space photographs or maybe even use them for the background. If you look up my forbidden raindow scenes you will see a rather dense (too dense) starfield created in psp7 and inserted and mapped on a sphere. I am also very proud of the star effect I created for those scenes, as a star is nothing more than a perpetual explosion. The effect to me is very much in keeping with photograqphs of real stars. The rings of color are not easy to produce but I have found a way to fake the prismatics. I am away from my home computer at the moment but I can e-mail you the effect because it is a real 3d model, not a painted on effect. Just let me know if you want it. This way I can show you a bit of my I.Q.

I am in no way surprised by your i.q. I have often noted your cleverness. Your Halloween scene with zero light sources with only fog to provide lighting...very very clever indeed. I'm not sure what testing method you used but I took one of those online tickle.com tests myself and was very happy with the results... I think perhpas they may be a bit "favourably biased" for the sake of getting more users. No one wants to be anything other than a genius...no matter how smart they are. It told me that I was a genius at around 142 I believe. I am too smart to believe it though. The more iq tests one takes in one's lifetime the better they get at taking them...meaning that iq testing can actually increase a person's i.q.. Since i.q. is nothing but the ability to recognize patterns and relationships between things such as cause and effect, a high i.q can indeed be a boon because you can often see the futility of the darn number long before it can do any good. Perhaps it is possible to be too smart. I for one am very impressed with you clever ways and look forward to seeing more of your ideas come to fruition.

"I don't think they would give you any real advantage."

you are right, without memory it be hard to do anything at all. My memory is really bad and I am too embarrassed to say how bad.

LOL I tried to take an IQ test online at some point, but I got to about half way and I lost internet connection, so I never ended up finishing it.

I just noticed something, there are stripes on the top right corner, is that from the sun? I think it might be a rendering bug.

Rashad-

First, yes, Id very much like to see that starfield model. I'm always open to new ideas and methods that can expand the scope of my work. Knowing how you did it will allow me to create similar models.

Second, I'm very flattered by your compliments regarding my work. I'm not really putting too much faith in these IQ scores. I took both the Tickle IQ tests and scored a 138 on the Classic and a 147 on the Super. After going over the report on the Classic I saw a really obvious mistake I made because their system kept failing to grade the test and I eventually was filling in the answers from memory, during which I botched one of the answers. I figure I really should have scored in the 140s. Those tests did seem legit to me as some of the questions required real cognative ability. It really doesn't matter because I've never considered those tests to be a fair evaluation of inteligence. After all, can you really evaluate someone's level of consciousness? That's something I consider to be a vital part of true inteligence.

Also, imagination is a very important part of what we do here and I'm seeing a serious lack of it in a lot of the poeple around me. Look as the garbage the entertainment industry is putting out nowdays. Aweful!!!

Anyway, I've denied my creativity an outlet for far too many years and now that I've discovered this medium I'm pretty much hooked. My one problem is ADHD which sometimes hampers my workflow. Lately I find I can keep my focus and I've been doing a lot of work on this particular theme. SciFi is my passion not only in the graphical medium but in words as well. I've started so many awesome stories and never finished them. Eventually I want to try and get a few published. ;-)

Gat-

Don't feel too bad. My memory is on it's way out too. I guess I killed off too many brain cells over the years. It's a miracle I'm not completely screwed up. I've been clean and sober for nearly 2.5 years and I can feel myself begining to balance out for the first time in...well... lifetime? I'm really having fun with these images I'm doing and I can't tell you how valuable that is to me after being miserable in a dead end career for 25 years. I'm starting to think MCI/Worldcom did me an enormous favor when they laid me off. I'm rambling. LOL

I see what you mean. That is sunglow but why it's banded like that I don't know. It's rendered with super fine antialiasing. It's almost like the effects of low color depth. I'll have to check it on future renders.

Good night Guys! :-)

The I.Q test tells you how your I.Q. relates to the the average person of approximately your age. Considering who is celebrated as most successful in the world around me, I wish my I.Q would not surpass 70. My experience has told me that the more intelligent you are, the more you are treated as a fool. And that company you mention, spektyr, is still a customer of us.

About the job you've done here: you learn fast and I agree with all the peers. There is a program out there called Universe Image Creator which can be found at http://www.diardsoftware.com/ there is (or was) a free version with somewhat limitted use. I've never tried it on a Bryce project but it might inspire you.

Isn't it funny how that works? If you have a mind that towers above the majority they do everything to keep you down. This is one of the things that has prompted my recent decision to fight for my SSD - they've denied me twice so far - and settle down in a quiet place to devote the majority of my time to creative endevours. By the time I actually get the retroactive balance on my disability it will be enough to set up a serious render network of a few Zeon servers and a new workstation so I can get serious with my work.

Thanks for that link. I'll check it out later when I get home from yet more medical appointments. In fact I'll do a search and see if there are any other apps like it I can use. Why I didn't think to do this in the first place......I feel like I'm just waking out of a 40+ year coma. :-)
